A lot of people started their Monks before Kunark when Iksar wasn't even an option. Other people just think Humans look better, and that matters to them more in how they enjoy their EQ hobby than being more powerful.

The only thing I regret about my iksar monk is that I wasn't able to do the sash and headband quests. Of course, you can just buy them. Or get a group together and kill Brother Qwinn, skipping the sash and headband quests altogether.
Come to think of it, I have no regrets rolling iksar. | ||

|
Human monk looks alot better, but its like picking a gnome warrior over a troll/ogre warrior. Just dumb. When your dragging corpses after your group wipes you will miss that innate regen from iksar while fd flopping yourself through a dungeon.
Also I think iksar has a ac bonus over monk. | ||

Well there was no option prior to Kunark. Also tail=fail, everyone knows that.
