Please exclude my ignorance, how do you have more time while in a war zone fighting a war? are there support jobs that basically run 9-5? and the rest of your time is spent dislodging sand out of various crevice's or playing eq? Do all military personal get net in their rooms/bunks do you have to share access? Do you bring your own computer or can you actually play EQ on military hardware. Keep in mind all i know about war is based on news and cnn. I guess i though everyone would be cleaning guns and getting ready for the next mission/hunt. Just curious

The warzone I'm in isn't really a "war zone" anymore. What my unit does here is provide communications for A LOT of operations. We get mortared every day just about, but because the "combat troops" are out of Iraq, we really don't get to go outside and chase them...We have security around our base which does a faily decent job of defending the base, but of course, they fuck up too and we get hit with mortars.

My team runs 12 hour shifts, and after the inital "setup" of our equipment, we go into monitoring mode and just wait till something breaks, and generally it doesn't. I haven't had to fix anything in the last 4 months... :\

We do stupid shit here ALL the time, as the saying goes, there is a lot of "hurry up and wait", After a 12 hour shift, there is something back at the room that needs to be fixed for a higher up or someone at an outpost, so I have to fix their issue(s) and help them with whatever it is that needs to be done, sometimes that invovles me loading up on a chopter and taking a quick 2-3hr flight to some other post in Iraq. If that doesn't happen, I normally go to the gym for 1-2hrs and then head back to the room to talk to wife/friends/play EQ.

There are 2 people to a room, and you have to pay for your own internet, and at times it sucks ass, but hey, at least it's internet. $120.00 a month for 256k service, expensive, I know, but I like to keep up with how my baby is doing, along with my 8 year old and wife. Every soldier pretty much has internet, and if they don't I let them borrow mine for a few mins to skype back home.

Where I work and where I sleep is two different places, it's about a 20 min walk to and from, while carrying 30-45lbs of extra gear. It's not to bad though, because it's an easy workout heh...I COULD bring my personally laptop to work, but I don't really want my computer being used on a gov. internet connection, just in case [You must be logged in to view images. I'm military equipment now posting, I can view MOST websites, but cannot view stuff like facebook, myspace, youtube, and ESPN, which sucks...but what our higher ups don't know is we have haji TV at work, it's about 10 channels and it normally fields 2-3 football games per saturday and sunday (along with the World Series games).


Out of the 5 months I've been here, I've fired my weapon three times, been mortared a bunch but mainly, I do a weekly PMCS (which pretty much means I make sure it's clean/functioning) on my weapon.

All in all Iraq is an experience, I wish I wasn't here for a year, but I'm not going to get emo about it, there are worst places to be. I get to work and train Iraqi soldiers, which honestly, that is the most nerve wrecking part, because honestly, I don't trust them, because I know they don't trust me....It's a fubar situation and just because combat troops are out of Iraq doesn't mean the WAR HAS STOPPED.

I got to go home on R&R and witness the birth, and also got about a week with the baby. It was awesome, I really miss her though, but the wife puts them all on the webcam so I can see how my son is doing in school, how the wifey is doing, and how big my little girl is getting....When I speak to her, sometimes I can get her to smile (although it probably has nothing to do with me other than a baby just doing cute baby things :P)

Could not have said it better myself. Back when all the "troops" were leaving Iraq, with all the pictures, and videos of Strykers/HMMMVs rolling out into Kuwait, there was almost little to no mention of all at the remaining 50k+ troops here. We were watching the news over here just laughing, because that's all we can do.
When I went home on R&R people who asked me where I was, I told them Iraq, and they were like "But I thought that war was over", I just kinda laughed...If you guys pray and/or what not, just keep the troops in your thoughts. Anyway, it's not all easy over here, but it isn't like we are having to go weeks without food.

Old Sebilis, like all Everquest dungeons, is divided into several "camps" or specified areas for players to kill monsters. All players zone into the same area and must travel down the same corridor to an area called "the rock", but from there, the path splits 3 ways leading to several camps.

Disco 1 - If a player were to travel left from "the rock" down a long corridor across a bridge, they would arrive in a camp dubbed disco due to the shiny, multi-colored changing ceiling over a stage. This camp has named spawns such as Gruplinort, froglok ostiary, and frenzied pox scarab. This camp is also a popular site for AE groups.

Disco 2 - Down the same path as disco 1, buth further in, past the "disco" stage. This camp has named spawns such as Brogg, froglok pickler, and froglok commander.

NOTE* Sometimes disco 1 and disco 2 would be combined into a single camp titled simply "disco"
Nec/Guard - This camp is straight across from "the rock" and is named after 2 rare spawns at this location, the Necrosis Scarab, and Sebilite Guardian. Once popular for the constant precious gem drops from the multiple scarabs at this camp, Nec/Guard now only sees a few gems, but is still the site for popular Kunark era weapons, "Lamentation" and "Crystalline Short Sword."

Crypt - If players venture through the Nec/Guard camp, down the long corridor, they will come to a large pyramid. Under this pyramid is a locked door that can only be picked by a rogue that is skilled in the pick-lock ability. Once inside the crypt, players encounter many undead frogloks and undead iksars. The crypt is the camp in Old Sebilis with the most rare spawns. These rare spawns include, Crypt Caretaker, Arch Duke Iatol, Harbinger Freglor, Heirophant Prime Grekal, Baron Yosig, Blood of Chotal, and Emperor Chottal.

Cages/Jail - This camp is located to the right of "the rock" and is called cages or jail because of the 4 jail cells that are part of the camp. This camp is inhabited by four captive iksar necromancers. This camp may see the rare spawn of gangrenous scarab.

Chef - This camp is also located to the right of "the rock" but is past the location of the cages. The camp is a large open room with a banquet table in it. The Chef camp may see rarespawns such as froglok chef, froglok bartender, froglok armsman, and Froggy.

UZO (Upper Zone Out) - This is not usually a camp but can become one in the case that sebilis is overcrowded. The upper zone out is a hard left to "the rock" and is at the end of a two or three rooms. There are no named spawns at this camp.

LZO (Lower Zone Out) - This camp is similar to UZO, in that it is only taken if sebilis is overcrowded. To get to lower sebilis one must jump into the water around "the rock"/Nec/Guard area and swim into one of two underwater passages. The lower zone out is guarded by some of the harder frogloks of Old Sebilis. There are no named spawns at this camp.

King - This refers to the Myconid King camp which is where the famous Fungus Covered Scale Tunic drops. This is one of the most difficult camps in sebilis and should only be attempted by experienced, higher level players.

(Side note: Good luck to the regular/casual players trying to get in, the forger/hunter will be locked down for at least acouple weeks)
