Starting from scratch I'd suggest troll just so you can have an innothule swamp bind.

It's far better xp there than feerrot, and the levels where innothule struggles guk seems to do really well.

Speaking of guk, that is an awesome zone if you are starting from scratch, especially as an SK; even the lowest level mobs can drop jems worth several platinum. Woven armour (vendors well and decent AC for up to 9) drops like candy. The large spider drops chitin shell armour and chitin shell shield, both items have good AC values. As you get in to your teens and kill higher level frogs in groups you can fill your slots out with mesh.

Between the gems, spider silk and spare armour you will create a nice nest egg for purchasing a weapon... that is assuming you aren't simply handed a dark reaver or enambled black mace by someone coming up from lower guk.

As a SK it is also worth trying to beg for an invis and sneaking down to lower guk to loot some shin greaves and shin gauntlets. These items are always rotting, have a plate look and decent AC to get you started. The basalt carapace is sometimes rotting, but is harder to reach (on a similar note, try convince spectre killers in oasis to kill a few deep water goblins for you to get an opalline helm).

I don't know, maybe it's just my thought process... But...

Troll and Iksar both have the 68% experience penalty as it pertains to a shadowknight. They also have regen and Ikky has AC bonus.

Ogre has FRONTAL STUN IMMUNITY (OMG11!!11!!!!!) and a lesser penalty (61%).

For the record, Dark Elf, Erudite and Human SKs "only" suffer a 40% penalty.

If I wanted the best min/max and the best opportunity to solo, I might eat the severe xp penalty and go troll/iksar.

If I wanted to avoid being stunned, and wanted to min/max, ogre.

If I wanted to avoid the severe penalty and liked the look of Dark Elf, Erudite or Human, I'd go with one of them.

In the end, it matters only as much as it matters to you. There are positives to each (though Humans and Erudites are blind, so I'd take that into account) even if it's only in aesthetics.

AA's will never happen on this server. And stats do matter end game. STA was already mentioned and it deserves a second mention. Ogre has 127, DE has 70 and obviously HP is very important to a tank.

At level 60 this is a 342 HP diiference.

5 to AGI, the rest to STA.
Being a 56 DE SK and knowing that I am somehow "gimped" against an Orge, part of this post seems funny to me.

Yes, an Orge will have about 300-450hp more than I do equally geared at level 60. The difference to me is that I have 114agi when he has 85agi. So when we are tanking, I should dodge/block/parry more than him, so if that happens 2 times a fight, I just mitigated the difference in HP. I have just never understood the logic.

Part of the logic is that agi does not help you avoid spell dmg, only melee. Personally I have no idea what the difference between 114 and 85 agi is for any class.

I never said that ogre was better than DE, just responding to a post that said that starting stats don't matter. I think he was assuming that P99 would go beyond Velious.

If I were to play sk id do either troll or iksar cuz I like they way both of them look.

Same reason for me, I loved the Luclin models and love my DE.

Can't beat dark elves in plate.. mine is a dark elf and love it. Occasionally feel like I'd be helping the cleric's mana pool by having extra HP but honestly if you can organize a half decent group where people know what they're doing that far outweighs being an ogre and being in a group where nobody assists and people play like they bought their characters off ebay.

Pick the race you like... live it, love it. Get as much stamina/HP gear as you can, and go to town.

Nobody is going to say "don't get that LFG SK, he's an erudite"...

Yea, but only because no one plays an erud SK [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.].

I think on one of the live servers before they nerfed the 'trio' type jewellery my 52 sk for killing nagafen was an erudite (stacked out with damage shield and regen augs).

Erud SK are cool!

Appreciate the input. I created an ogre, yet the Troll regen was tempting. Do stat allocations play a big part towards end game?
for the love of god make sure youve got 75 minimum in agi.
