Yeah, not easy buying gear on Red. And the good spots for farming are camped by Fungi Twinks from hell. So Red is not as easy as you think gear wise. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

All the more reason to level with others, make friends, and try not to solo your way to 60 imo. Be part of the community and jump off the fence <3

Ravager's spot on with his advice. I'd add HBC, maybe.

I've leveled 1 monk to 60 and 2x to 52. If I had to re-level from scratch, these would be my priorities:

Weapon (that 2h Wu's is what you want until you can afford a Peacebringer/epic at L50 - for the sake of DPS at your level, forget 1h anything until epic) > Regen (fungi is out of your range, but invaluable) > Haste (save for an FBSS/Dragonborn) > HPs > anything else (including stats).

Some items (at least for casters) are way cheaper (even adjusted for the 3:1) on red than on blue, as long as they aren't best in slot, resist pieces, or in demand twink pieces.

Lol thread starts with a lvl 20 asking what to spend 1k on, people now talking fungi and dragonborn sash wtf lol.

all you need to get bud is wu quivering for under 500pp, and cured silks w/magic boots, kobold boots is fine till 50+. and maybe some hp rings. Then start working your resists for pulls/tanking.

everyone talks mad shit about fungi, hastes ect for noob monks. Which just inforces RMT, and then they will flame you for it after talking up all this expensive shit. Ignore anyone talking fungi when your at your level in the game.

Well, 2k is enough to start the EC buying/selling game and work up to a fungi before leveling further (hint, buy robes at ~75% market rate and resell for 100%).

Wu's quivering best damage you can get for the price, and it's not close. There is a weapon damage chart in the melee forums somewhere.
