My initial reaction was just to yell out, "gayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy," but seriously, the devs have provided us with the only MMO worth playing anymore that many of us had been fantasizing about for years before its release. I have periods where I'll play this server for months, then take months off then come back, but even when I'm not playing, I find incredible solace in the fact that Norrath will always be there waiting for me.

Vowed I'd never play EQ again when SOE shut down my server (Trakanon) in late 2009/early 2010. Spent ages going through the EZ mode leveling and working on my first 100 AAs for them to shut it down and replace it with a very much "not classic" progression server.

Then somehow or other I discovered P99 and its been an amazing journey. I still don't have a level 60 on either server after 4 years - the leveling is the fun part for me as opposed to the TunnelQuest, powerleveling, Chardok AoE, etc.

But there's something for everyone on this project and that's what keeps us logging in.

pras p99, here's to many more years of good times, cat gifs and red recruitment threads [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Seconded. Especially thankful for the good people I've met and have run with on p99. And, I guess, those I have yet to meet.

I am thankful that the game let me use the name Cubone for my Iksar Necro. I am also thankful that GMs allowed the creation of my guild: <Gotta Catch Em All>

I'm thankful for all of you fellow p99ers & forumquesters -- especially the staff. Even the haters & trolls! Happy Thanksgiving & be nice to whoever cooked your fabulous dinner and graciously offer to do the dishes. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

This is so true. I played EQ back starting during the Kunark era when I was in middle and high school, and I stopped around LDoN after getting greatly disillusioned with the game's new directions. I tried a bunch of other MMORPGs throughout the years but they never captured the magic of classic EQ.

This game is amazing - partially by accident (a lot of this stuff was not the original EQ devs' intentions) it is deep, rewarding, and highly varied and complex. There are so many ways you can play the game, and so many different things you can do in it, and there is an enormous amount of knowledge and skill you can gain as a player. You just cannot find an MMORPG this deep anymore.

So like many of you, I was practically in disbelief when I learned, after so many years of classic EQ being dead, that this server existed, and the initial nostalgia trip on my first log-on to the server was huge. And as I had never actually played live EQ that seriously in the first place, I have been pleasantly surprised by all of the great things about this game that I never really had a good handle on in those early years.

What this server's development team and CSR staff have done with this server, and how much they have and continue to work on it on their own time, is incredible. In many ways, this server is managed better than live EQ ever was. It is truly a magical thing. Rogean, Nilbog, et al - here's to you!

I agree, the staff here don't get enough acknowledgement for what they take so much time out of their lives to give us. This place is my safe haven.

Thank you P99 staff.
