Iksar Warrior... Asking for Trouble?

Iksar Pros:
-Field of bone/kurns/WW
Can get level 34ish, and don't even need to go far from the city. Kurns = fantastic easy exp. Can get 40 in FM, 50 in DL. Everything is close to home really.
-Money
Sell bone chips, WW giants drop decent cash items for beginners
-Regen/medium race
Regen is great for reducing downtime, and you don't need to be a troll/really large
-Drops
Burnayai hide stuff in tower is decent starter gear
-Quests
Iksar quest armor, scale trooper, dreadscale, etc is decent til endgame
-Stone of morid
hot
-Bixies
Start dubious/non kos to bixies
-Looks
You look badass, get a tail


Iksar Cons:
-Lack of armor choices til velious. AC bonus is nice in velious when you can wear anything, but no cobalt or plate for you
-No slam, nice to stop casters, but warriors get kick stun at 55 anyway
-Faction outside cabilis. Takes some work if you want to use merchants/bankers outside of cabilis, but it's actually not that hard to get non kos in freeport. Took me a few hours to have better faction than most people start with. Kunark has everything you need anyway
-2handed slash animation. Gross. Like a 5 year old girl throwing a softball poorly.

Honestly you're giving up tons of stats, slam (for a warrior not that big of a deal with kick stun), and way more armor choices (not as big a deal in velious) for stone of morid. Stone of morid got updated to be ogre/troll/barb usable but I think it was post Luclin release.

If it were Velious I'd say not that big of a deal but in Kunark it is. You will never wish you were another race if you play an ogre though, they get the only racial that can't be duplicated by spells or items. It's the same reason why you always make an iksar monk - they are the same as a human with an AC bonus, or necro as they are the only necro capable race with regen.

The chart pretty much goes like this for all classes:

Can it be an ogre?
Yes: make ogre
No: Can it be an iksar?
Yes: make iksar
No: pick whatever

Just a heads up any race shadow knight can accomplish the same PvE goals in the end game (tanked druushk with 20 people a an example) and as far as pvp is concerned you can find both my dark elf rogue and iksar shadow knight at the top of the leader board, from my experience I would say

Practically no experience of PvP in EQ, and I appreciate that an Iksar warrior doesn't have a hope of making it anywhere near the top of the numbers game, but can it be done? Will I have fun?

I'd suggest making an mage, enchanter, necro or wizard as your first character here. It's very rough to get anything done alone, there are way more groups these days but still tricky on euro time.

Enchanter is the best cause it allows you to easily get groups and you can also solo almost any camp in the game, which gives you the ability to get some items without a lot of hassle
