hey Iruinedyourday. First, thanks for always posting solid input on these forums. I find myself always looking for your posts.

The top left.. I would think that's a parse reader of some sort. The timers for roots is just so awesome. Would you ever consider writing up a quick guide on setting this up / the software you use? If not, would you consider sending me your setup files or something, anything to get me started. I tried to dive into game triggers but was a little overwhelmed.
Hey thanks! Well when I first learned how to set them up I posted about them in this thread so you can find a lot of info about them here!: http://www.project1999.com/forums/sh...riggers&page=2 I got a little bit of a simple write up of how to set up commands on this page, if you scoll down a few posts [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] and some great feedback follows and some tips from other users to get individual names and stuff to display.

I posted the two images, because with the spam of timers on my shaman and all the text boxes framing my window, it was a little reminiscent of the classic UI where you had this teeeeeny tinnnnny visible area, surrounded by a ton of marble and UI [You must be logged in to view images. I see some people being like WHAT IS THIS TIMER NON CLASSIC!!?? and to that I say, yeah its not like totlay 1999 eq log parse looking but I dont know what to say, gambosoft doesnt make a 1999 style parser anymore. I dont even like Kunark I'm so classic.. and I use these.

Timers wont affect you but it will make your grouping with someone that uses them a little more efficient and you'll be like wow cool. I for example don't use the map app, because bawses dont need the map app [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

All that said, I am all for a classic UI!!! force it in there and Ill be happy... however one chat window will suck.. 6 hot keys will suck.. it will suck, but whatever when someone turns on p99 for the first time and they see that UI they'll shit themselves. That's what p99 is all about to me, us keeping the server alive, and new people discovering it after eq just living in their memories for the last 10 or so years.

Ahmet, check out that thread where I talk about the spell timers and how to set up gambsoft - there is some really cool tricks that people helped me to maximize my use of gambosoft in there too.. I think even Dald posted some tips hehe

Ok see you all in Norrath!! Im going to play today woot!

theres gotta be a line between parsing logs and overlaying your ui with shit like that (same with that map program sum1 made which does the same thing)

Parsing logs is definitely classic. Yaulp was the original client people used I believe?

GamParse itself isn't a big deal. But the fact of the matter is this:

In classic you could only have a single chat bar. Due to this people filtered out a lot of information. Though the filtering back then was somewhat limited. If you forced people to a single chat bar here you would see a lot more filtering and less "log everything/parse everyone" style.

This is why when you look at those old 2001 logs of raids, it's mostly just the loggers melee and not everyone else on the raid.

Due to the above, people may be less inclined to utilize log reading overlay programs if they have to fit it all in a single chat box. They will start filtering off others melee or spell effects, etc. Because you will get spammed out otherwise. Like classic.

That and the prevalence of full screen play made players less likely to create and use an overlay type log reader.
