EQFlames, FoH and server boards are particularly salient examples of the theory that forums are a gaming community's cesspool for its angry detritus. Mouth-breathing egoists love to be heard, and the forums are an excellent platform to satisfy that impulse.

See: cyberdisinhibition and negative cognitive bias.

It's the same as live, except there is a large contingency of players here who were notorious, infamous, and banned on live. So it's a farily concentrated level of asshole here.

I think im going to have to agree with you there... What is missing from this server, is the nice friendly casual players. *note, there are some nice folks out there, but they are hard to find

The people here, for the most part, are eq addicts. There is an imbalance between those who want a true challenge.. and those who need the bank account to feel successful in this game.

Ive been here a month or so now, and as a semi-casual, never will be a raider, kind of player.. Ive had so many issues with higher levels, who feel justified in stealing named from groups, who train/fd, etc. Its almost a nightly basis, our group/guild has had some run in with someone. Issues ranging from training to steal camps, from walking into camp and sitting directly on named spawn point, claiming it..

How rude is it, to steal a named from a group of lvl 15s, to get an item that might sell for 30p.. Then the same person claims to be generous, because he gave that drop to help out some noob. I like to work for what I have. I like to quest for it, to hunt for it. Its not as gratifying to just buy it from some bot farmer. And I try not to either. My highest character is a lvl 33, who still has one empty slot, and some tattered armor.

I truly feel sorry for the gm's that have to put up with all this stuff, on a daily basis. To play babysitter to a bunch of ADULTS who are not capable of acting civil.

I know that this server recognizes camps... However, with the number of semi afk farmers that box, having one toon sit at each spawn, Im starting to miss the first to hit/damage mob rule. At least then, you could still be first to aggro the mob, away from the semi afk / boxing farmer, who has a slower response.

The boxers are a problem, but not just the ones who play together. The boxers that are the issues are the semi afk farmers, who have toons parked on various spawns, camping multiple locations at once, each solo, and each appearing independent of one another, all while another toon sits in ec selling.

The community really isnt there.. Not in the same way. There are people.. but not really a community. First time around, things were new to all of us. There was a great deal of ooc communication, discoveries, unsolved quests. The number of soloer's here is also out of proportion to numbers on classic. People grouped back then .. Everywhere.. Loot was shared among a group with random chances of winning. (or the random chance of a ninja looter) It wasnt the solo farmers claiming every drop.

I think the OP has a valid point. Sure, back in Live each server had their fair share of issues, but there really seems to be bad blood here (especially in the forums). EQ might be engaging and a wonderful fantasy world to be in, but some of the people we share it with here make it dark and repulsive.

I sat and buffed people for 3 days , 6 hours a day. "this week" Random people in qeynos area. Trying to be nice , trying to make someones day a little better.
Than I finally got the camp I wanted after 2 weeks of randomly checking if it was open. Made the named pop after 3 hours. IB members somehow MacroQuest/showeq that it has spawned and come and take it right when me and my wife wipe.

Fuck buffing/helping anyone , It's the evil people that ruin it. No more helping anyone when all we get for it is a kick in the face. There are good people on this server, and the server itself is the bomb. Majority of people on this server are Greedy, Selfish, Narcs, Gnoll jizz at best.

There's the crux of the redundancy of P99; THIS FORUM is the server blacklist, yet 100% of the time the ones who get blacklisted are the ones with the gripe, legitimate or otherwise.

Unfortunately huey, I have seen this to be the case. Many times have nice players hepled me out, for that good kindness to be spoilt only a moment later by some griefer.

It's the same as any live server was: there were nice people and there were assholes.
