As far as clerics go there's not much to be gained by min/maxing. So pretty much everything is personal preference.
I have 52 dwarf cleric and he's constantly overweight unless strength buffed, and I frequently play a 57 halfling cleric that is constantly overweight too. High elves just get there a little bit quicker, you simply need to spring for the tink bags and be careful how much cash you carry. If you generally like the high elf, I'd keep it, or if the weight problem really bothers you, you could even reroll the high elf with 10 points of your optional stats added to str.

Clerics will be close to encumbered their whole career just due to the weight of plate armor and the lack of significant str items since you want to be pushing hp/mana/wis items.
tl;dr High Elves are easily the ugliest race. | ||

Clerics, like monks, need several WR bags and should carry high end gems as currency for ports and misc. assistance.
Once I stop being stingy I may buy my cleric some Tink bags... Maybe...

Thanks for the advice guys. I like the idea of naked running to a place that I could die but have a chance to get some nice stuff. I love the bigger mana pool of the HE, has saved my bacon more than once.
