It would be extremely appropriate if EQ expansions started getting sold in Blockbusters. Is the room empty because the room is always empty, or is it particularly empty especially on this day because of the particular event that's taking place???

I had the distinct honor of working at a Blockbuster for about a year until the ship finally finished sinking and all 300 of the nation's remaining stores got shut down. That last 3 months of desperately trying to sell all of our DVDs, ruined by years of human garbage holding the disc wrong with peanut butter all over their hands, at horrifyingly high prices for a store closing with a no returns policy was just astounding. "You people sold me Skyrim for 30 dollars and the disc doesn't even work! I want a refund!" "No refunds" "That's insane! Why is the price even so high, you're closing in two weeks!" "We don't set the prices" "CAN I GET A DISCOUNT ON MY NEXT PURCHASE???" "Store credit has been shut down, we can't give any discounts beyond the store closing discounts that are currently in effect." "But there ARE no current discounts! This game cost me 30 dollars!" "That's 20% off the new purchase price." "BUT IT'S NOT NEW YOU SON OF A BITCH IT DIDN'T EVEN WORK AHHHHHH"

I'd say it was more, I tried to do my best to be accomodating and help people and hint that they should check the discs before they paid to make sure they were good, but the company set a ton of rules specifically aimed at absolutely fucking everybody they could out of every penny possible and I was required to follow those rules.


So I got paid to help the company troll people.


And if those people pissed me off, I started to enjoy it, so then I was getting paid to troll them, myself. But usually I was consumed by crushing guilt.
