I stacked HP. IMO the return on increased dex really isn't worth it over stacking HP and grouping with a sufficient rooter/non idiots.

There are many ways to hold aggro

the best war aggro you can get is playing with folks that understand how war aggro works and know how to manage their own aggro.

the next best thing is making sure you grp in places where you can get your taunt to work. if you group in a spot where most of the monsters aren't blue to you then you may as well not bother hitting the taunt key. you can do it, but only with someone that is willing to keep the mob rooted.

as for weps: I would go with the lowest delay primary wep you can afford and in secondary the best ratio wep you can afford. if the best you can afford is close to a ssoy then I would trade off ratio slightly for proc chance. if the best you can afford is top of the line I would go straight dps weps until 50ish.

for many typical wars on a budget this will look like lammy or jade mace in primary. wyrmslayer or jarsath trident in secondary. at 37 I would consider swapping out secondary for an ssoy.

it very much depends on where and who you are grouping with. I end up carrying around a variety of weps for different situations when tanking or just doing dps in a grp.

Rumor has it those claw impalers do stupid amounts of hate generation. I haven't formerly tested it yet because I'm lazy as shit, but from my informal testing they definitely snapped aggro quite well.

Otherwise get a staff of battle and group with people who can root and who are not dumb.

Part of the problem with trying to proc is the base rate is only 2x /minute at 100 dex and because most everyone is using weapons from lvl 40+ dungeons the mobs die so fast it just doesn't matter.

50+ once you're rocking 40-60+ dex from shaman buffs & can gear a bit more for dex & mobs last longer than 10 seconds you start hitting areas where you can proc on a mob early enough in a fight that it makes a difference.
