UPDATE: I've tried to unblock port 5998 but my ISP said they don't block any ports.. I've allowed the port through windows firewall and I've tried resetting the modem from the ISP... any info would be great, considering I've only had 2 suggestions in the past 20 hours =/ Thanks
Edit: Okay, I figured out I had to put a 2 after login on the eqhost.txt .. but now I'm getting a memory error when I select the server. I feel like some higher power is preventing me from playing ;( any info? Edit2: wow not its not establishing a connection again.. WTF this is bogus!!!!!!!!!!! Edit: Fixed. Was resolution disagreement error. Thanks for everyones help. Not.

Post the contents of your eqhost.txt file.

I cant get to the server list, when I try to log in it says it cant connect to the server and check to see if I am connected to the internet. Eqhost looks fine
[LoginServer] Host=login.eqemulator.net:5998 The weird thing is if I put in a wrong password it doesn't give me a wrong user name or password error ,it just gives the cant connect the server message. Shouldn't the login server detect a wrong password and tell me?

If you can't connect to the server, how is the loginserver going to tell you anything?
Anyways... Open up a command prompt and type ping login.eqemulator.net Report the IP it gives you.

Yep that's the wrong IP.
Change your eqhost to login2.eqemulator.net You've got either a really horrible dns server or a modified host file. Changing to eqlogin2 might fix it. If it doesn't, ping that and give IP as well.

My Internet Provider is called Logic (out of Bermuda) if that would tell you something. I can always play P99, usually after several attempts to get past the blank server screen, or the update your spell files' error, or a simple hanging crash at character select. But once I am in I tend to have from 2 to 8 linkdeaths per 2 hour session. My lagmeter in the top left is always at 100% when I disconnect, whereas in real EQ I remember that 100% would start counting down when a linkdeath was imminent. If this is a "horrible dns server" causing my problem, is that a conversation I should be having with my ISP? How can I help them to troubleshoot? Thanks. Changing eqhost fixed it, THANKS. Well I logged in and all my characters were gone, I figured out that eqemulauncher had screwed up my files . I ran the P1999 patch again , then I couldn't log in ,it changed the eqhost file back to what didn't work, then it worked after I put the 2 back in.
