It's inevitable that people get tired of reliving 1999 every day on this server anyways.
Pretty much why I'm quitting... I wasted a lot of my time on MMO's over the years. Early EQ & Ultima had a magical aura to them. I don't think any game that comes out is going to give me that same feeling.

I have jumped around from every MMO since I "officially" quit EQ after PoP. Every game that's come out, I've played, none have anchored me down. I stepped into the "high end raiding" scene and I can never go back. Every game is work, it's about being in the "top tier".

I can't live that lifestyle anymore. I can't invest any more time or money into in any game. They provide a great escape, which is probably why I always find one to keep my attention for a few months when I get bored with another. If I stay here I'll play for as long as the server is around and for what? To see shit I've already seen? To re-experience shit I've already done?

P99 has been an awesome experience, but it can't replicate the past. Everything is familiar. Nothing is new, nothing is special. Nothing has that magical feeling to make me want to play just 10 more minutes. I made a lot of good friends on many MMO's. Playing MMORPG's were an awesome adventure and a horrible decision at the same time.

I see most of my time playing them a waste of my life.

Dude, I totally see where you are going with this statement.
However, when you look at what the "average" person is doing while you're "wasting" your life on an MMORPG......I'd go with the MMORPG.
I do agree on the servers progression at this time though. It's an excellent idea that has been destroyed by either a shitty player base or a lack of discovery.
No matter what character I play I don't look forward to anything.....cuz I've already had it all before. The only thing I was really looking forward to was Kunark because that was really when I started enjoying the game. I really hope that the devs releasing Kunark is not hog-wash.

As far as the devs being in the guilds that are raiding and such.....Not a whole lot to say about that considering they are the reason we are able to even play on this server in the first place.....I'd say if it's a huge problem just apply for the guild and go with them ? I dunno.

I'm barely level 20 remembering how awesome it is to creep along as a casual player. Remembering the countless hours it took me to get max level back in the day actually depresses me.

Peace

Yea don't get me wrong, I enjoyed playing and still do. Unfortunately, I can't commit the time. I've got other stuff I should be doing. MMO's are that great escape from people who don't understand partying needs to be in moderation. As much as I like to party and drink, I need to be more attentive to my goals and future.

MMO's offer that alternative to getting fucked up every night of the week. I'd rather spend my time in a virtual world than ruining 13 hours of training volume in the week and derailing a diet when I'm cutting weight. The problem is I just compensate with the gaming. It starts taking priority. Even though it's nothing incredibly exciting. I do it out of habit. I'm the epitome of gaming addiction syndrome. (Yes, I made it up)

Being in P99 instills a great deal of nostalgia, but it wears off and turns into shit. My experience is unique. I'm sure other people have taken to this server with great zeal.

To contradict what I said earlier though, there are days when I realize just how bad the world we live in sucks....and it's nice to go be a mystical character and relax and talk to people if you don't like you can /ignore.

Zinc is by far the best element. I also like plutonium. It's just fun to say.....plutonium...."how's your plutonium today?"...."good, thank you...."

Part of me wants to agree with the "This server and these devs aren't all that" mentality. However, there have been "classic everquest server" projects in development since 2001. None of them went anywhere. Only this one succeeded. Flawed as it is, it's all there is, if you take my meaning. I agree, you'd think that will all the leet haxxorz out there who played EQ, there would be several options for reverse-engineered polished classic emulators. But there is 1. With c. 2000 players. And you'd better enjoy it while it lasts.

None of us really have the drive for a classic server due to the nature of how long they actually last once two or three guilds take it over. Hence why most people with talent in the EQEMU community run custom servers, or belong to ProjectEQ. I really wish /bug was monitored in game, it's faster for me to fill out bug reports that way in between kills. I hate writing crap down and forgetting about it when I get busy with other things.

QFT. Amen.

Before I uninstalled Launcher. I hit up the server "A Happy Place"... non-legit / GM Commands. I spent like 6 hours re-exploring everything it was fucking awesome. If anyone is ever bored and feeling nostalgic, hit that shit up.

Sadly, it was a double edge sword because as I made it through Kunark and Velious I realized I had been there before, and as much as I want those expansions to come to P99, I know when they do I won't be content for long.

Unfortunately I think this is true for all of us. Everyone here seems to hell bent on level to 50, getting in a dev created guild, and raiding until their heart stops.

Is that how you remember EverQuest? Or do you remember it as running around Kelethin JUST because it was cool looking. Or finally making it to the throne room in crushbone just to go up that tower and get backstabbed by the Royal Guard. Which was crazy cuz you had NO IDEA he was there. Or how about your first trip to the Karanas when you kept asking yourself i you were EVER GOING TO ZONE lol.

This game is AWESOME don't get me wrong......but it's kinda like reliving the 6th grade. Sure you got your first blowjob.....but then remembering it was from a fat chick.
