That's disgusting behavior behind a MMO that's already getting a lot of shitty feedback from beta testers. I know the gaming industry thrives on making what should be a normal game more expensive (see BF3, BF4 etc) but I didn't think Bethesda would be joining in with it.

Fair enough if they release an expansion later on with an extra playable race, but to deny people a core race from Skyrim/Oblivion etc...wtf?

firstly, its not Bethesda, its Zenimax. second, its not the devs, its the douchebags in marketing on the business side.

i would have bought the top shelf collector edition (as i do for any mmo ive purchased besides Aion), but now i won't. i flat disagree with what they are doing with pay gates.

make the imperial something u can eventually unlock in game, or, just have a straight up cash shop. but do not charge a sub, and then STILL hide content exclusively behind money barriers. thats greedy, and thats retarded.

also - still really angry about any race on any alliance. i was all primed and ready to kill anything that didnt look like me. alas, my secret hope and dream that ESO would take me back to Vallon Zek live nostalgia is wearing thin

I have to say I was pretty annoyed with locking the race behind a paywall but eh, with this discount I don't feel cheated, just feels like I am buying a ps4 game. As for the any race on any alliance thing, I have mixed feelings on that. It makes it really annoying PvP wise but at the same time, now I can play on the same faction as my friends while still playing an Argonian.

As for the bad feedback from the beta, I am pretty sure it was because they didn't put enough time into it. The game REALLY picks up after about 12 hours of gameplay, which I mean it should be awesome from the get go but if you get through the slow part it turns amazingly fun. I am piss poor at describing these kind of things to reflect how awesome it is, but trust me!

I used to be a big supporter of this game. I was in every beta going back to September and I had a blast the first two betas but after that I realized I was only logging in because it was a limited time frame to play and not because I really wanted to. I found myself realizing I'd rather play other games I had (like this one) and that's when I knew it wouldn't be worth it. I got to level 20 and did all the dungeons for the Ebonheart Pact and had a decent amount of of fun in PvP. Actually, I was really excited for the large scale keep pvp warfare but found myself enjoying the small skirmishes better. The large-scale keep sieges seemed more like Operation Metro and Locker on BF3 and 4, just cluster fucks around chokepoints where everyone just stands around not doing much.

The game is really just a typical run of the mill MMO. It's a shame that in 2014 I'm still doing fetch quests I was doing a decade ago and especially with the budget this game had. There really is a ton of room for innovation but we still don't see it. While I do not have any sort of high hopes for EQ Next at least they are TRYING something somewhat new for an MMO.

Oh, and the worst part about this and what's contributing to the shitty gaming scene these days are the rampant fanboys who refuse to look at or even discuss ANY sort of negative criticism.

actually, the worst part is people running around judging a game thats still in beta, and thats still seeing new changes with every round of beta. i have concerns just like you do, and i sincerely hope this game is a ton of fun. but im not going to be one of those people that condemn a game while it's in beta.

if it sucks ill be one of the first people to say it sucks.

fun fact, if anyones played beta they know theres pretty much the starter zone, then the starter island, then the game. and they finally made the island part optional, so if u want to just get right in, you can. most (not all) people that QQd about ESO are people that never left the starter zone/island.

This. Elder Scrolls Online will be a great diversion for 5-9 months until we start to see the first taste of the next round of Sandbox MMO's. Right now we're all standing around waiting for that, and so far from my beta experience, ESO is a good representation of the current genre of MMO's with a few new twists here and there and a lot of depth that most people haven't really explored because of the awful early game.

Really though, 5-9 months is a good time for me to be playing an MMO these days and I can see it easily lasting that long. FFXIV for instance only lasted around a month and a half for me before I got tired of it.

So people who open up discussion and legitimate concerns are now worse than people who blindly refuse to admit their could be any kind of problems or shortcomings? I'm going to have to disagree with that. At least your argument isn't one of the usuals ie, "you mad bro", "you poor bro", "if you don't like it don't play it." I will agree with your observation that it is still in beta but that argument can only go so far. For starters, the game's release is very very close now and it's not far fetched to think that they are going to be making big changes from now until then.Yeah, the game has a monthly sub so it should guarantee good content updates somewhat regulary but if those updates are anything like the dungeons they have already it won't matter. Running through Fungus Grotto was so mindlessly easy it was like autopilot. Same for the other two whose names escape me right now because they were so bland. Also, like I said I have been in every beta going back to September and though there were some fixes and tweaks none of it was really major. Also, plenty of products in this world are judged and critiqued before they are released, especially when you have a testing phase so close to an actual release. A beta in September is different from a beta a few weeks away from release. It's close to being a demo almost.

Also, I think your point about most people QQing having not left the newbie island is a little exaggerated. While plenty of people have been like ZOMG NOOB ZONE WAS TRASH I UNINSTALLED, if you got to Cyrodiil where you need to be a minimum level of 10 you would have seen how many people actually reached to level 20 and did a lot of what content there was. It also sucks that the their was a sizable amount of people who have played Morrowind to Skyrim were always asking for coop mode and instead got this generic MMO in the ES universe. Also, I never really "condemned" this game I just brought up a few legit concerns and said at this point I don't think its really anything special. For the record the sub and cost do not bother me, if the game blew me away I would pay for it. I have payed subs for many MMOs but haven't in a long time because again, in my opinion there have not been any that really blew me away.
