



Drop Info:

This dropped off Magrek, a level 50 female dark elf caster mob who spawnson the top floor of Castle Mistmoore at approximately loc –81.29, -103.19, -159.19.


Nerf/Removal Info:

This item was removed in the spring of 2000 because it threatened the uniqueness of the planar drops. The mob disappeared as well soon after.



Personal Comment:

This was one of the items that made Mistmoore as legendary as it was. And contrary to urban myth, this was never part of Mayong Mistmoore’s loot table. The original MM was never killed, not even in beta, so no one knows what his loot table looked like

I responded to that guide in the bugs forum, a large # of the items are Velious or post-classic.

There's only a few items that P99 "missed" and that's only because more research / information is needed. The Magrek drops are one of those, as well as the droppable 41% haste belt from draco. P99 did everything else pretty much accurately.

The guide misses some other stuff, like original Pegasus Cloaks being instant click (not retroactively nerfed). They were never that way here, for some reason.

Burden of proof is on someone to find a screenshot of the mob, or a reference to the actual item in a database. It's not going to happen.

If you look at the links I provided, the static page listing of items by slot was how Allakhazam recorded items up until just before Velious launch (at which point he started the actual Lucy item DB with item IDs for each item).

If a mob was in classic only and no one with the item updated to send it to Lucy after the transition, it wouldn't have an item ID/entry, as that database is player compiled, not ripped from the game.

I know, but people also made and submitted hoax items to Allakhazam, quite often. There's no screenshots of the mob, no database entry from anyone ever having/linking the item in the years since, and I spent a lot of time in MM back in 99 without ever seeing/hearing about that mob. There's pretty much no evidence of it existing other than a submission to alla (and people mentioning hearing rumors of it, probably as a result of the hoax) and an easily doctored shot of the item.

It's possible it was a beta mob, or a GM event, but illusion: werewolf is a ridiculously OP click for a warrior compared to what else was available during the era.
