I was having the same problem at your level with mana, especially if a charm broke and I had to get control back.

Level 19 now though and it's getting better as I'm using the same spells as I was at 12. Also use the level 4 Mesmerise for everything. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] It's got a great mem blur component.

Fortunately it just keeps getting better and better for enchanters. You get to keep using a lot of lower-level spells even at 50+ while also getting more and more mana regen as you pick up clarity, theft of though, and clarity 2. A lot of your higher-level spells stay pretty cheap (fetter, tashes, stuns, etc), and the ones that do cost more (hastes, slows, charms) scale super well as you start charming and fighting higher-level mobs.

I just hit 16 on an enchanter on red server. When I hit 12 I was expecting to be able to easily charm enemies and clear my camp that way. I didn't have much CHA but I only needed them to last one fight so I could nuke them down...

A few deaths later I stuck with my animation and would just root rot them until they died. When I managed to get 16 and breeze however it became much easier and I am using charm to clear my camp very easily.

Being a dark elf with hide is a game changer as well really.

Wouldn't do it at lower levels just because the mana costs makes it all very inefficient, you really can't handle that many charm breaks or keeping larger camps cleared. Some mid 20s onwards it's not as bad anymore, recall solo clearing Mistmoore alot from late 20s onwards and it was noproblemo (pre-Breeze classic era ghetto gear).

Goblin Gazughi Ring is the same thing it just costs about 8k or many hours camping it. DE is certainly helpful for early levels when you cannot afford that though.

I tried a DE for a bit and found hide just not reliable enough. I ended up using Taper Enchantment all the time even on the DE.

Tougher till 16. Much easier at 20 when you get a more useful aoe stun that lasts longer than it takes to cast mezz/charm.
