In my opinion Ogre frontal stun immunity is the strongest racial choice for shamans. I also believe when velious launches Iksar will become quite strong due to racial AC bonus, regen AND plate. (also they don't look like shit!)

If you had to choose between the two, go with troll. Jaundiced Bone Bracer, if you can afford one, is an extremely powerful tool for leveling. If you really wanted to min/max then go Ogre.

Iksar FTW!

frontal stunn immunity - I have to lol @ ppl who believe its a huge advantage. Ive played Iksar shaman for 6 years total, not having stun immunity never stopped me from doing same stuff Ogres can do. It may help you here and there, it is a minor advantage. I take regen over stun immunity any day!

JBB - real men dont need that. It makes your life easier, but not being able to use it does not break the game for you, just makes you work little harder.

Iksars will always have AC bonus & regen, plate will come with Velious. They will be arguably the best shaman race in Velious end game.

P.S. Dont forget the most important thing! They look BOSS! I for one could not play a character that looks like bag of shit! You are gonna be staring at him for a very long time so make sure you are ok with the looks. Some ppl dont care, some do.

I disagree with everything else this man said, but Iksar shaman with an epic look pimpin.

Ogre stun immunity is huge. JBB is mega huge if you buy one eaely. These things can allow you to pull off shenanigans that would be fatal to other shaman. If solo shenanigans is your goal, ogre.

And just forget Torpor. Don't include it in making your decision.

That said, my shaman is an Iksar.

Tell me how huge is it? Be specific. Is there anything Iksar can not do because of not having it?

60lvl shaman can live without JBB, no problem there. Sure its a good twinking item if you can afford it. Definitely not huge in the long run though.

Puppet strings are huge. JBB is not.

P.S. If you think Iksars are behind in Velious end game, you dont know your class/race all too well imho.

Thanks for your responses guys

So i sat at the class creation screen last night and cycled through the races... Quite alot.. Had some dinner.. Checked out ec... Went back to the char screen.. (This process lasted a while..

I in the end picked the class i wanted to play more than others. Iksar was created. Never played iksar before (not classic anyway) so new journey.. Also.. Tail!!

Started the grind going well. I have tried troll now.. The running troll irritates me.. So i knew i couldnt get into the race (shallow maybe but hey) ogre seem ok bit for me iksar seems to have stuck!

Cheers guys

I salute you sir!

Send me tell in game I can hook you up with full banded set and help turning it into Scaled Mystic Armor!

One advice for first 23lvls - do not kill any Burynais! It will allow you to roam around Kurns freely, killing skeletons in basement/catacombs without having to worry about Burynai HTs, DOTs and DDs. You can stay up to lvl 23, them lessers give great exp!

You migth want to look into Shaman Skull Quests, if you need any help with this, let me know.

Good luck & enjoy

Frontal stun immunity is neat - but don't pretend that Ogres will never have a spell interrupted. Any melee hit can interrupt a spell - and the interrupts you don't learn about until the casting bar runs out and you fail your channeling check are the worst kind.

I'll take innate regen, stacked with fungi, regrowth, AoB (does AoB stack with fungal regrowth? I forget), and bathe in my slightly more oft-interrupted torpors while I canni my heart out and stack all kinds of dots.

And I'll take troll because we run so fucking sweet.
