Default Just a few thoughts.

To whom it may concern,

Id like to say that the majority of my experiences with project 1999 have been awesome. Cheers to the developers for working hard on a game that has brought back so many fantastic memories. EQ's incentives let you explore interesting zones, delve into a deep quest/lore system, and kill crazy shit, all with the company of your friends.

I can say this with confidence because I believe it to be true. And I think lots of other people have similar feelings towards the game and the community. However, now that I have spent a considerable amount of time leveling my old live character from back the day, a few things have come to light.

Ive found that the incentives to enjoy such a great blessing in P1999 have shifted. As a lowbie starting out a few months back, meeting new people and striving for great gameplay and comraderie were commonplace. Yet it saddens me to see that the institution of tyrannical greed and lust for dominance has taken over. A server that has potential to harbor an honest to goodness group of a thousand or so fun loving gamers seems to be a haven for all kinds of ridiculous crap.

What I find myself asking is how has my attitude towards EQ and games in general has evolved from growing older? I started playing when I was 16. Now im 22. I am genuinely interested in the people I meet and their experiences with the game, much less the experiences of my RL friends as well. Upon hearing about all of the exploitative, dramatic and unfair things being done by people on the server, I am extremely disheartened. To add fuel to the flames, people argue about it all right here on the boards. This whole thing kind of feels like seeing your favorite diorama/action figure plaything (1) dismantled for parts by your older brother because he wants to pawn them for a fake Rolex.

Call me a noob. Call me Naieve, call me a carebear. Call me any negative or positive adjective/buzzword/internet/EQ lingo acronym thing thats been said on these boards a thousand times before. Cmon guys, the bickering is unnecessary. The game benefits wholly from maturity. Those who choose to use EQ as an outlet for a false sense of power, security, and general ass-hole-ery should just be ignored. This post was mean to be non-specific in terms of people and actions. I hope to have not offended anyone. It was not my intent to make blatant accusations by thinking about the bigger picture. Let me know what you think and I hope the Devs will too. Thanks a lot for reading.
