I sold ammo today. It was a great feeling. I didn't even need to ID the guy in the state I live and the ammo was stored openly near the front counter, not locked away.

Seriously I don't think restricting power to police/military/certified/trained people only is a good idea. I don't think its: A. cost effective B. appropriate C. going to save lives I'm not really that worried about it. Either your likely to get harmed by the abuse of power or some psycho. I see ever increasing abuse of power in the USA at all levels and I know from life experience this is the major cause of violence along side poverty (as it causes more poverty and injustice).

Also the guy was some old dood who was buying a few rounds to either target practice, hunt, or kill vermin, something you still need to do occasionally around these parts/have the liberty to do.

I wouldn't sell it to a kid without an adult there anyway. Thats fuckin common sense.
Something people rely to much on the law, rules, whatever to dictate these days.

aka if you need a lawyer to understand and live, and be successful, in your life... what are you doing? Why are you allowing this situation to come to be through politics or whatever? What happened to your society?
Seriously, I know we have computers and stuff, but life is probably far simpler than it use to be in general. Most people are even more specialized than ever before in their skill sets, which is something we aught not to encourage even further.

So long story short you are trying your ass off to rationalize the fact that you didn't ID the guy.
You think I give a rat's as about people purchasing weaponry? As long as the proper channels are followed, it's your right as a US citizen, provided you're not some nutcase. You sir are part of the problem you fear and you don't even see it.

Also, if you are afraid that your peers can't judge a person enough to sell them some rifle ammo, holy crap, you have little faith in your peers
TBH I can understand. But I think with age you might 1 day realize its not that big of a deal. Either a psycho kills you with a gun or somethin else. Make 1 rule. I.e. Don't murder for no reason. Apply that rule to society equally, and you have a fairly just system. What we are heading towards is pretty lopsided if you ask me. I hardly trust/believe most shit I see politically and I am ALSO a veteran. I just know better. Give a man the right to make water rights and he'll throw you in jail for putting a barrel on your roof.

Alright and to just help you see my perspective a bit. I don't think there was every a violent murder here for 5 years straight, and one time it was a robbery were the guys getting robbed were shot ( a neighboor shot the robbers dead after the fact while they were fleeing the house after he heard gunshots) this was so out of the ordinary, whole city was going wtf..
And the other time a jealous boyfriend killed an innocent bystander on accident in his rage at a gas station. This is years apart. In both cases violence probably would have happened and people may have died regardless of guns or not. But it happens so infrequently that there is no real good reason to go all 3rd riech on gun control and shit here.
