This server is run by volunteers who work full time jobs. I doubt they want to police silly things that really don't affect your game play.

Being annoyed by a typed word is silly.

That being said, if you find something that is really offending you, I'm sure you could report it and it will be changed.

Personally, I like when the idiots name themselves stupid names. It's an quick warning to avoid them.
It affects my immersion.

Nah, you lack immersion if a typed word brings you out.

I don't think the names matter as much as the players do when it comes to immersion. I have seen players with fantasy sounding names /shout "Anybodies gots me sum CRACK! I needs me sum CRACKS" before. I am assuming they mean Breeze or Clarity!

The policy is enforced only when it comes to straight-up offensive or swear names. GMs have said that they have a lot of work to do and enforcing the naming policy for anything more than that is simply not a priority at all and not worth their time. It's a policy in name only [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Personally if I was a GM I'd go whole hog with this policy, so I'm sure a lot of people are happy someone like me isn't one. Honestly, most of the server breaks the policy and I'm sure there would be a huge backlash if it was actually enforced.

YOU'RE RUINING MY IMMERSION BRO!!!!

Some of them are stupid but some are AWESOME! it really does add to the classic feel because even in classic people had names like that, not as extreme and blatant as we see here but there definitely people that broke surname rules and never got reported.

Ive only seen it really enforced over Profanity and Racism or outright offensive names or surnames. Though im sure if you can make a case to a GM as to why a name is offensive to you they will do something about it.

Knew a guy on Live name Teews Yssup. Kept the name for years before a GM finally stripped the surname.

Policy seems pretty classic here - names last until they're caught or someone complains enough.

I remember I deleted my first character because I was worried "Dolla" was unacceptable. After finally making it to EC, I realized that the name is pretty safe
