Disable polls on the forum?

I'm pretty new myself so I don't see all this poll spam you see(plus I only browse server chat and class forums) but why take polls away from everyone just because a few retards abuse it? Wouldn't it make more sense to either ban these people or take away their posting rights instead of all of ours.
