Most low end gear sells really cheap but the MM shield doesn't have a good replacement for a while so a larger demand for it. Resist gear is also the type of gear that costs more on a pvp server.

There are cheap alternatives like a shiny brass shield that isn't going to hinder your exp/pvp. The MM shield just looks cooler. You won't need the disease/poison resist until well after you can solo it yourself.

If you are just asking people to farm it for you because you are lazy and want to buy it for a low price then the supply/demand is working as intended. It is making you decide on whether to put the time in or just purchase it for what it is selling for.
