Thats just a bad attitude. Its not hard to catch up if you wanna catch up. And they will just get ahead again if you don't want to put in the butt hours. Thats just how this game is and always will be. People with lives are going to be second tier but thats okay, still a lot of fun to be had. Attitudes like that actually make me not support a wipe.
That's not really true. When Azrael/Force/Dentists finally got their shit together and teamed up against Nihi with relatively even numbers, Nihi just went over to blue and recruited 30 more. PLed them all in a week or 2 and things were back to status quo.

Then there's all the literal gravity that a guild like Nihi has where is sucks in every frustrated or loot whore player that comes along and there's just no way for a lesser guild to compete.

That's why I thought guild login limits might help. That with only allowing in guild buffing/healing and some GM enforcement of no x-guilding, it would give more people a chance and a lot more pvp.

better to just wipe it , they realize all their time was wasted and half of them give up so casual / normal people can play

I mean what did you think would happen when a lesser guild clears fear for 5 hours then they come take cazic? Hundreds of people quit just cause of that one boss.

He drops nothing good either, its the point.

with this "guild cap" thing the only way to have ppl stop X-guilding to PvE would be to turn off PvE somehow.. maybe prevent any action by a player that would get him agro on the mob, if more than a certain number of players are already on agro. All PvE encounters on this server can be done with 30 ppl or less. sooo.....

Guild cap: 30 ppl online at a time. PvE cap: 30 ppl

Guild A - 25 ppl in Sebilis

Build B - 10 ppl in Sebilis

Assume 25 in guild A are engaged. Guild B could be either friendly or hostile, attacking the mob for good or evil, up till 30 players are on it. Once 30 have engaged, or healed the tank, or buffed a player, etc. Then the next guy to do any action (heal, buff, attack) will just waste his mana, or swing swords that never hit, etc.

This doesn't prevent ppl from clearing trash mobs really, but does prevent them from 60-manning faydedar.

I'd donate $5 to ban nihi from red. I remember being super excited about the red server when I heard it wasnt just a myth. Now it just sucks. Sorry Nihilum players, nothing personal against anyone, but you are the only reason why the server will never get any better or see more population. It's the way you bluebie it up on red for maximum advantage in pvp and minimum advantage IRL.

Ya ya it's all nihilums fault. Has nothing to do with broken resists, a botched launch, global ooc, the snail pace exp for the first year, game breaking bugs, the inconsistent rulings from staff, etc., its because mobs are being killed by nihilum LOL.

Welcome to MMO's, large Zerg guilds are as classic as it gets and have been in existence on every incarnation of eq ever. You think if nihilum left there would be mass pvp over dragons here, lol? Look at loz and the Zerg fest that became. No, this server is what it is because people don't want to play here which is for a variety of the reasons I mentioned and the fact that eq pvp just isn't a big a draw in 2013.

First of all good luck doing VP with 30. Second of all how does that stop 60 people showing up to protect to the mob from pvp? I don't get it, people cry about how instances ruined MMO's then are basically asking for instance type restrictions. The problem isn't red99 the problem is you guys are looking for a WoW type game. There's nothing wrong with that, in fact I enjoy WoW a lot the raids are incredibly challenging at heroic difficulty and with the 10 man size you know you're an integral part to success or failure. But, that isn't EverQuest. The EverQuest I remember from 1999 was 80 people bum rushing nagafen.

Yup, I personally think this is the #1 factor. Sure there are tweaks to T-staff etc, and yes one guild does dominate the server, but seriously how many people do you think would play in the absolutely perfect scenario? Double, triple, quadruple the servers current population? I doubt it.

What was the average ratio between the Live blue and red server populations during Kunark? Take that ratio and compare it to 99blue's population. That to me would probably be the best 99red could hope for population wise.

You never played VZTZ.

There were 30v30/40v40 fights all the time.

Sorry you never got to enjoy large scale pvp because your guild recruited more than half the server.

You saw 80 people bum rushing nagafen, and need 30 for VP because you and people around you are bad players.

You need more than half the server to achieve goals. Good job
