Still don't get why its legal in cali when everyone all voted against it. It's like we live in a republic not a democracy or somethin

"Democracy" and "Republic" are not mutually exclusive ways of describing a government.

We have representative democracy. We are also a constitutional republic.

Neither of those things are true, as they are not descriptive of the three branches of american government, which is where power is collected.

The closest you get to describing the government in this country is "american democracy," which is a euphemism for "a constitutional, indirectly democratic republic, mediated by legislation & the judiciary," or something.

And really, even that does not take into account the fact that all three branches of government in this country are controlled and / or influenced by (mostly) corporate interests. It would be disingenuous to describe the GOTUS without some mention of the vast control exerted by non-human entities.

And even then, the voting public is directly and indirectly controlled by media, so you must also give a nod to the zombie apocalypse.

American Democracy:
an interpretively constitutional, indirectly media-democratic republic, mediated by corporate controlled legislation & the manipulated judiciary.
