Would a human or half-elf bard suffer any sort of penalty? Is there a table somewhere detailing what the penalties are?

basically pick human or half-elf (wood elf is inferior stats and race skills are redundant)

best religion is either Tunare (cha/int cultural pieces) or RZ (str/sta cultural pieces) or agnostic

How difficult is it to obtain the RZ armor? Or, for that matter, a set of bronze/banded? I think I have 100pp from selling HQ skins and bone chips in EC.

banded is going to be 1p per ac. you can easily afford the full set as a starter and some basic str rings with your 100p

half-elf is going to wear medium bronze, which is a little more rare than small bronze (which is vender fodder on this server due to how camped unrest/mm are), but still available if you sit around in EC tunnel. maybe expect to spend 2p per ac on that.

You will definitely be able to get groups on a necro or druid. If a group that needs DPS turns down a necro you don't want to play with them anyway. With a druid expect to be an inferior healer for most of your grouping career. Snare, SoW and regen are enough for most groups to be happy having you around, but like someone else said 50+ it gets a bit tougher because other classes outperform you in almost every way (buffs, heals, dmg). But by that point you should have decent gear and be able to solo your way to 60.
