I really hope this goes to a new player that really wants to play a warrior but maybe shied away from it because of the steep gear requirement!
This is me! I have always played casters in games after my first char being a warrior in EQ so I really didn't want to play another one even though they have lesser gear dependency. I wish I had been aware of Project 1999 from the start and I wouldn't feel so far behind!

I know exactly what you mean Vaildez! I just started myself and the idea of items like that, would essentially put us several months/year ahead of where we are!

I too am playing a warrior right now, thinking maybe I need to play a more non gear dependent class and level and farm, but I will probably stick with the warrior either way. Though with this warrior and gear, I would definitely stick with it!

You last 2 guys posting are really not behind. When Velious comes out it will pay to only be like level 25ish or in that area. There are a lot more places to go to at that level than 60. The top guilds will have those high areas tied up for months. [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Giving this account to a new player is a great way to rob them of the nostalgia we all experienced upon first finding P99. Well done.

They are really going to miss out on that whole experience of having two wait 10 minutes in between the 10,000 crocodiles they have to kill rather than waiting 5 seconds between the 10,000 crocodiles they have to kill.

I don't think he is talking about mundane grinding, but rather the experience of gearing your own first char. Honestly I feel bad for people that get super twinked by their friends or by some nice random player, looting every piece of gear I own was one of the most fun and most rewarding aspects of leveling up here.

Well having done this once already before, 13 years ago, it won't ruin it for me. It would actually solidify me to continue playing. With that kind of gear, I would keep it indefinitely, be no reason to resale stuff like that, since what would I buy?

I love warriors and prefer melee classes. So I would have no use to get rid of the items. If Velious comes out and they stick to the patching, once they remove hybrid exp penalties, my next toon will probably be a troll SK, then probably a bard. Anyhow, plenty of use for the gear!

For me I could see getting 60 with the warrior, then handing the gear to an alt and doing it again. This is a rough gear dependent game for melee/tanks, and I have noticed server population might pose a challenge for finding groups on occasion. And if it does go to Velious and then the game stops, and seeing how nothing will be able to beat EQ1 (I liken this to a crack addict always chasing that first time they got high) I would see myself over the next couple years having many alts and enjoying the game in different ways that i did not the first time around, due to expansions and AAs and the continual need to progress on a main character. I didn't really have alts the first time through, raided all the time.

As for replacing gear, that was not part of the nostalgia for me. The traveling, grouping with people/social aspect, and straight up adventure, was the bigger part for me. "Twink gear" really only helps lower level when I'm solo, and will help the groups I am with. Let's face it, even with the best gear in the game on lvl 1, I will not be soloing all the way to 60 as a warrior! Even at 60 with the best gear in the game, it is still a rough and dangerous game, will still have to group, gear is a small part of it.

Actually making sure this goes to someone who will play the game is good for everyone, every person I would group with would benefit from having a tank who can not die as fast!

Anyhow, I would be able to fully appreciate it, that's my point! =D

I can agree that, I hope whoever he chooses appreciates it and enjoys it and uses it thoroughly!

Also to add, way behind gear/plat wise is what I mean. It seems like this is a top heavy server, most of this population has higher level toons and most of the lower level population are twinked out alts. Having been in everforst for a few hours at least, and checking out EC on another toon, well let's just say I would be money that the majority of lower level toons, are alts of someone else, and the alts that are able to solo and are twinked, typically won't group as much, even further forcing lowbies to have solo when there isn't people available to group. Just an observation.
