Really amazed by this guild, and not in a good way. Joined after my husband joined. Made friends with guild mates, grouped with people, talked with people. Never a problem until one person logged on tonight who really has not been on and then started just being ... an ass. And when I didn't go groveling away and/or accept that and told him he was wrong about what he was complaining about .... nothing. I was on for another hour, then after I logged off, that officer went to their forums and banned me.

While they do have members I really liked, I wasn't at all impressed with the lack of guild leader (he's never on) or much with the officers. And when you're in an environment where officers feel like they can randomly be asses to their members and the members are apparently supposed to take it? And then instead of talking to the person but instead waiting until they log to take action in some passive-aggressive fit? Yeah, not a good place to be.

ETA: One more thing. As a new (and not full) member of this guild it was certainly within the guild leadership's purview to decide that I wasn't a "good fit", which is what an officer told me when I asked. And it was certainly within their domain to decide to do so without speaking to me once. Like I said, I was a new and not full member. My husband, however, was a full member. And guess what? He got the same treatment. And obviously it's done with grudge when the way it IS communicated is not by speaking to the person and saying "hey, this is what we've decided" but by banning that person from their forum - not the member portion but the entire thing.

Default I am the Evil Twinkie officer

Allow me to enlighten our readers.

What was perceived in the previous post as the reason for their dismissal was not in fact the reason. It was my fault that I could not respond timely enough for the reason as to the removal of membership. You heard it here first, I do not live up to the guild officer requirements of MMO-9000 standards. Please send all of your complaints to your local guild union steward.

Earlier in the night (4/4/13) everyone reading this might recall a server event that Rogean hosted involving Velious trivia. These two were tripping over themselves to proclaim how much of a "tool" Rogean is. I couldn't help but think... "Why then are you playing this game, or even this server, but cannot see the effort that the developers have put forth to make your experience as "classic" as it could possibly be." All the while, ITS FREE! But yet they proclaim to have the specific angle to be able to pass judgement.

I will not deny that there was some kind of squabble that had to do with another member, but from what i can tell this only had the effect of an itch after the mosquito has already bitten. Annoying.

We wish them well. Sorry it didn't work out. Neither our guild nor their expectations are perfect. I won't pretend that anyone cares enough about this to decide that "PreNerf Twinkies" are the worst kind of people this server has ever encountered, because its simply untrue. In the same breath, those that accuse us are not bad people either. Somehow we all float on.

EDIT:

Galvatar feel free to post here or PM me with any issues you might have with a member (or members) of our troublesome little guild.

Absolutely, I am the only person allowed to have an opinion. Not you. In fact, nothing you have said in your post could be construed as an opinion.

And booting a trial member and a full member had nothing to do with one of the officers being upset that his rudeness wasn't just blithely accepted, as evidenced by the fact that every single person in the guild who said something about the event or the GM was removed from the guild.

Oh wait, except they weren't. Only the two of us.

And we weren't exactly removed, we were just banned from the forums. I had to log back into the game to find out why I was banned, only to be told I had been voted off the island and instructed to remove all my characters. (lol) I mean really, if you're going to do something, just do it, especially if you start with a really petty action like banning someone from your forums.

You know, I get that being an officer in a guild is work. Sometimes it's a lot of work. And sometimes it's stressful. But. People have understandable expectations that if you do accept a leadership role in a guild that you're going to actually, you know, lead. And sometimes that requires communication. Actually, it pretty much always requires communication.

So like I said in my original post: It was entirely in your domain to decide that I didn't make the cut to become a full member and to cut me loose. How you handled it though speaks volumes about your sense of responsibility in your guild, your leadership ability and your maturity level.

The fact that you also treated a full member in the same way speaks even more loudly.

Anyone that brings that kind o drama... and is Sub level 10 for .. a year.. Is going to have a hard time finding a spot in any guild. Be thankful we were nice enough to give you a chance. I never once saw you, or your husband in vent..
And I'm sure Jimsox afforded all the kindness you deserved.. Ciao and GL [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Very mature and incredibly sad for someone I had respect for. Especially since the reason given being us making rude comments about the server GM, and by rude apparently inquiring seriously about someone's age is rude. The same server leadership you yourself have questioned as being corrupt, why now are you his champion?

You can spin it anyway you want but resorting to insults speaks volumes. Maybe it works for the trolls and will gladly get you a few cheers from them it hardly represents anything I had come to expect from you, and definitely not something anyone in a position of leadership should be voicing.

And from someone who did make it past the two weeks and was a member? Some advice. Be a leader, if something seems wrong to you, deal with it, don't seek the path of least resistance. If you think someone was out of line it is your job to work to address that with them and see if a resolution can be made and if not to then take the next steps. Otherwise it's just a title with the power to boot people.

Valli we have only been on the server for a couple weeks, so I am confused by your comment. If questioning the way the server GM talks to the server is drama, then I guess I am full of drama. I guess I thought maybe the people in my guild were the people who I would direct those questions to. As for vent, if that's your thing great but unless there is something I need to be in for such as a raid or event I'm usually fine with just guild chat. Worked in the original EQ works for me here. I never really spoke with Jim much so I can't say, and up until that point the other night everyone was very helpful which is why this whole thing seems odd to begin with. As for finding another guild, I have one. Things like this are usually only a big deal for those involved and don't usually portray anyone's best side because emotions are hot. Ciao and GL to you as well.
