i hate cgi and basically anything made in the last 25 years. practical effects are good.

bladerunner and dune from the 80s are better than the new ones.
Or remember The Thing from like early 1980’s? Those effects were freaky as hell. Upside-down-human-head-crawling-spider stuff

Not only music, but creativity in movies. Everything seems to be a re-release or a remake, or a marvel movie (not a diss I like them).
Nostalgia is a powerful, effective, marketing tactic. A new concept runs the risk of having no fans, and therefore no turnout. An established IP has a built in fan base. Some of those fans are die hard enough to go watch whatever slop remake was just made

In Greek, "nostalgia" translates to "the pain from an old wound," meaning the word captures the bittersweet feeling of longing for the past, often accompanied by a sense of ache or sadness associated with memories of a time gone by

- It’s that ache to have those experiences again that makes nostalgia so powerful a marketing draw

Mansplaining the very reason P1999 works.
Pain from an old wound makes sense in a P1999 world.
Thanks for the greek translation mr geek. Love new/old word stuff.

Imagine having nostalgia for tiktok dances and eating tide pods.

I swear I can't wait for 20 years from now only because I know it will be so horrible everyone will hate it and I can laugh at them.

Lol

Well I do wonder what will be nostalgic to this newest generation of kids and feel bad that there has been such a void of good original content for so long….as all these crappy writers flounder before AI can save them

Although I don’t know if quality is necessarily a prerequisite for nostalgic feelings. For myself, if it’s been long enough and I am in a particular mood when I hear the theme songs to either Willow or The Secret of NIMH I can almost get choked up like a little bitch. And neither of those are super critically acclaimed; Willow is a bit of a dollar-store LOTR. But because I was older when LOTR was out it doesn’t hit me in the feels like the stuff from my early childhood does. Although LOTR probably would for like my younger cousin, who ended up seeing the first one in theaters 10+ times alone…like the loser nerd that he is

Oh and I don’t watch tik tok but I was just telling a co-worker yknow who had some amateur comedic talent was some of those kids making Vines. I remember back in the day enjoying seeing The Best Vines of [x] Year compilations. Who woulda thought those little bastards could make like a 7 second clip funny. Haven’t really been impressed with any of the Tik Toks my younger family members send me :/

I don't see why we can't have two dark ages [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I really think the next like 400 years are going to be rough.
