Because its effective and they place their internal value and well being on external entities and possession over their own identity rather than the reality of who and what they are and are a part of it's really simple yet really hard for people who don't want to stop thinking or can't stop thinking and so they think and think and think and think and are miserable believing they are some victims in a grand scheme meanwhile they are just victimizing themselves and each other with all of their thoughts and copes.
