this x100 classic everquest can't handle nor isn't supposed to handle a population as big as blue' You already know green is going to have an even bigger pop by 1.5x and be fucking crazy.

Will we have two Green servers?

One that resets every so often like a Diablo ladder season and the other Green server that stays constant and is the dumping grounds for seasonal characters so the economies on Blue and Red are not disrupted?

While the staff hasn't confirmed anything, all discussion so far has suggested that Blue will be the "dumping ground" for Green characters.

Keep in mind that the the staff hasn't even tried to start a single new server in years, and the last attempt (the Discord server) failed. It seems ... unlikely that they would want to expend the significant extra effort (and cost) necessary to launch two new servers, just because a few players have concerns about breaking an already broken economy ...

... which leads me to my second point: Blue was in Kunark for seven years (vs. one year on live). If that fact alone hasn't already "disrupted" Blue's economy, I don't think anything else will.

Fair enough. I guess it will be good there are more removed items on Blue in the end if it ends up being the dumping grounds.

I know a lot of players were sprinting a marathon with blue, but I for one enjoyed the slower pace, it really let me explore the game deeper than the classic timeline allowed.

I hope green 2.0 doubles the wait on expansions.

Amen. Anyone starting on Green will miss that ... but they can just keep doing it over and over to get to re-experience the game on that deeper level [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

P99 opened October 2009. Kunark was released in late March 2011. Velious opened August 2015.

The original game opened in March 1999, with Kunark in April 2000 and Velious in December 2000. The folks who enjoy the pre-expansion period would get over a year following those dates, but people who enjoy Kunark without Velious will be in for a shock if the new server follows the original timeline. The actual Kunark era lasted only on the order of seven and one-half months.

Of course, as of today all we have is a decade's worth of sometimes-contradictory posts and comments. We don't know for a certainty (until we do) that re-launch will follow the original timeline so closely.

“A new experience begins October 2019”

The same old classic timeline doesn’t sound like a new experience to me, whatsoever.

This may sound crazy, but if people remember, there was a point when new char models were introduced. It started with the cats and then eventually horses. If ya'll remember, they had the "option" of having new mod/horse "on" or "off," but eventually (somewhere in pop I believe) they put out a patch and the option of having old chars mods was gone and only new mods were supported. Since it's been nearly two decades since the permanent change, technically anything up to the permanent change could be considered classic. Perhaps Daybreak would not allow P99 to operate in that grey zone of classic and newer content, and now a "new experience" is announced after big meeting. Perhaps they will be allowed to expand some in content while the "New Experience" green server begins it's adventure.

I don't know...just really trying to think about what the team's goals are for fun, because creative minds become restless even when real life constantly calls. /shrug Just a thought. I mean isn't Rogean and Cavedude friends and all part of the same team/project? Isn't the entire Emulator their project? Just asking cause I never knew and I know PEQ go way up to like OOW. And if they are friends working same project much of the ground work is already laid. Just thinking... Any thoughts, facts, to help? Thanks.

And please be nice--don't troll meh. I'm asking sincere questions with best my memory can do at middle age! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Project 1999 only going up to Velious has nothing to do with Daybreak, and everything to do with the people who've invested ten years in the project not liking cats on the moon.

Throughout those ten years those people (Rogean and Nilbog) have been very, very clear: P99 will never go to Luclin or beyond. Again, not because of Daybreak, but because they don't consider that part of their definition of "classic EQ".
