EQ2 was fun and had two great things about it. 1 PVP board and 2 exp from PVP.

just installed a f2p eq2 and romped around a bit. im pleased at how well they've preserved the core game unlike eq1 which had its mechanics totally altered.

as far as i can see they're going to be keeping many of the changes over the years in the time-locked servers ala eq1 ragefire

if that's true, you choose your class immediately upon creation and coercers (along with some of the other previously faction-restricted classes) can play both sides.. just fyi

some of the classes are still faction-restricted: paladins/SK & conj/necro for example, and so are races.

have not confirmed if the betrayal quest to change citizenship to the opposing faction is still implemented, but assuming so at this point.

Didn't know they removed some of the faction restrictions, interesting. The mentoring system still in place? That was the one of the best ways I've seen in an MMO to play with pals who decide to show up to the party late.

Yea they eventually removed the requirements for the classes.

Could have mystics, templars etc on Freeport and vice versa. It sounds like that is going to stay in, but I would prefer BL/Channeler to stay out. I've heard theyre retardedly broken and the BL healing-type pet is better than most healers sadly.

Mentoring still exists. I wonder if they'll let you self mentor and use the Chronomage which charged you 5 gold to go down to lvl 10 in increments of 5 from your current level.

I'm not sure but I believe that was a classic feature no? Its probably still there. Tbh haven't seen more than a handful of anonymous pals around me in the tutorial zones.

Just rolling chars to lv 10 or so as they appear to get a few important/fun class-defining abilities by that point. Was enjoying conj until I found out monks/bruisers and warden/fury get abilities that totally evaporate the pets and nearly everyone can easily CC them. Beastlords are in the same boat... can apparently dish out enormous dps if the conditions are right but without their pets they're gimpy monks.

Now looking at ranger/wizzie... wanna blow up ppl longtime

I want to say it was before the first xpac but I don't think the game launched with it. Could be wrong though.

also: "No races or classes will be restricted from character create if you own them. They will all be playable at launch."

i'm not a classic-o-phile myself. pretty stoked about this server
