If I was an unpaid under-appreciated developer who tried like hell to keep this project alive despite the continued criticism and general whine-bagginess of a few unwashed nerds who can't wrap their heads around the fact they get to play for free....I would TOTALLY say that.

I don't mind server crashes once in a while, but it would be nice to at least get an explanation or an ETA when it happens.

I think the point is there was going to be no ETA They were asleep. Rogean doesnt have an alarm attached to the server to wake him up at 2am when a server goes down..If they were awake to give an explanation they would have just turned the server back up,..

I know, right? I swear, anyone who doesn't think computer game addiction isn't a very real thing right up there with heroin and blow needs to come read one of these threads sometime.

This server is up more consistently than live ever was during this era, by the way.

Back then it was always on the one day you managed to play hookey from work and got your friends to do the same...Like clockwork BOOM server down. I still to this day harrass my one friend about being so addicted to EQ that one time, after the servers had been down for a couple of hours I suggested we go play something else for a bit and check back, and he delivered his classic line from '99..."Nah, I'd rather smoke bowls and watch the big board." The big board being that server status utlility you could have up with the green lights for each server if they were up.

I mean, come on....I get as antsy about downtime as anybody when I'm really into the game, but I bet some of these people literally burst blood vessels in their eyes back then. The freaking server has been back up for hours and they are still bitching and demanding explainations.

It would be nice to get it of course, but remember that rogean and everyone making P99 possible owe you nothing. If anything, it should be the contrary.

Having a server knocked down with hundreds of people investing their emotion and time into it then simply saying "fuck you I owe you nothing" is a huge disrespect. You can't expect respect without first being willing to give it in return.

Hopefully the staff understand that when people go berserk over the server being down, it just means that p99 is so awesome that we don't want to go more than a few minutes without it.

I hope they get a good laugh at these people. If I ran a server like this there would probably be like one night a year I would come home so drunk that I would just have to pull the plug for 10 mins just to see people shit kittens all over the boards.
