Doesn’t apply here, but I see this sort of argument a lot

“That doesn’t seem very Christian-like”

“Don’t you think Christianity is a false belief in sky fairies and despise it?”

You have to pick one. Either Christianity is fake/evil or it’s it good, can’t be both at once
Lol yes definitely, I see that all the time and it's super annoying. People who outright despise a religion lecturing it's members on what it *really* means.

Like yes christians believe in loving your neighbor, but it's not unconditional love. It wouldn't be "love" to tell a heroin addict that what they're doing is fine and to never judge them. Love might actually mean telling them that if they don't stop they aren't invited to timmy's 10th birthday party.

Same thing with christian opposition to all the lgbtq stuff. Most of them aren't actively wishing that you burn in hell, but rather they don't think you'll ultimately be happy in your life doing the things you're doing. And maybe they're wrong about that, but I think many people reflexively think christian (or muslim for that matter) opposition to gay lifestyles purely comes from some visceral hatred which just isn't true.

Spanish. Spanish Inquisition. It was how Spain de-jewed and de-moored itself. You are talking about a counter-reformation precursor. Because no shit the Catholic Church didn't like Martin Luther. But saying that squabble is where the fires came form, or the image of the burning stake, is obtuse, and incorrect.

This thread needs clarity folks.
Are Jews and Muslims Christian?

Interestingly enough, I have this die hard Christian therapist woman on my FB who posts stuff like this a lot

Universal unconditional love is indistinguishable from universal indifference. This also means that you should unconditionally love bigots, rapists, murderers, thieves, racists, pedos, cannibals, etc if you're gonna go strawmanning the Christian ethos.

This means there's nothing really to say on any matter, whatsoever, including your critique of the ones you Levi this strawman against.

I know what you mean. Even before I began speaking to God again, I was usually cautious enough to call myself agnostic rather than atheist. Atheism seems so sure. I don't think anyone should be that sure about anything, positive or negative.

Smart people improve their ideology by tempering them with doubts, or even changing their minds based on evidence... but idiots are sure
I've also been on this path. Agnostic was always my thought for a long time after being raised catholic. Had a lot of pain early in life that planted seeds of doubt. But I think deep down I always had a connection to God that I couldn't shake. Only after I've grown and matured was I able to throw my ego aside(work in progress) and admit that it's okay and having trust in a higher power has real value.

The way you claim I spew hate here really doesn't sit well with me. I'm not sure what you think I've said that is so hateful.

For those who so often forget, this is what it looks like when a job is done right:

Mainly the arrogant and presumptuous things you say about Muslims, trans people, gay people, and people of color. Choose your words more carefully about those people if it doesn't sit well with you.

Think whatever you want, but I will always fight conservatives any way I can. Conservative isn't a race, they aren't being oppressed, and if I could oppress them I would.
