It already isn't. Look at where the big money plays are happening. And big stuff being built.

No one even really wants to invest in US land. Or property. It's a necessary evil to control the game, trust me these guys don't want to. They buy us utilities hospitals etc... and let them fail etc... look at comcast. Just to hold on to them and buy them back cheeper than the rent/taxes.
