Hahaha Cecily! That sounds like an awful time. Like taking turns rubbing wasabi in each others faces! Smelling salts are used by a lot of lifters to get a big rush of energy before a big lift... I don't lift like that, and i'm not a body builder, but I am always very curious about it. So.. i'm gonna try it once! Then go for a PR!

Reading a bit about it. I don't feel good about anyone habitually inhaling strong chemical irritants.

https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/15369278
While I wouldn't do it myself, the study is for long term exposure to high concentrations of ammonia gas. There is no evidence to suggest that using the low levels of ammonia during training causes any adverse long term health effects. But there's always a risk for irritation for any substance foreign to the lungs.

There's the man i was lookin to hear from. Whatup Mead, thanks for comin thru on this.. So you've never tried huh? I am expecting a slight burn for sure, from what i've read. I don't really have addictive qualities, nor am i a power lifter, so i can't see me going anywhere with these. Just kinda wanted to make sure it's safe for me to try, and give 1 a shot...

I've smelled them before. They're often used on patients in an attempt to bring them back to consciousness. It smells like ammonia. Really terrible. I've never had a problem with motivation and concentration for a lift, so I wouldn't bother putting myself through that. But try it out if you want.

Please read the case study I quoted in my previous post if you missed it. I don't feel good about you doing a 10-pack over a short period time.
I don't like the idea at all.

In this study, the authors report on a patient with long-term, repetitive occupational exposure to ammonia at levels at or above odor recognition who developed interstitial lung disease.

I actually met Larry Wheels in November when he flew into Miami. The videos and photos don't do him justice. He's enormous, and a super nice dude.
