"X"thed.

So many people whining about RMT, pay to win, etc etc. Makes me wonder, why the hell are you even playing? If you are just playing to have fun, why do you even care? The fact that this fundraiser bothers you so much is proof of some seriously misplaced priorities.

Go outside, take a deep breath, and think about why you play this FREE GD GAME.

Bunch of !@#$ing ingrates.

Because it is free of the current trend of letting people pay money for items and faster experience.

Just looks like a raffle to me.

How does donating to Pantheon benefit the staff? It doesn't. They aren't collecting any benefit from this. Only headache from whiny ungrateful brats. And it really is a nice gesture for the Pantheon team.

This is like a small church getting reamed because they are selling raffle tickets for a breast cancer awareness shirt and a basket of shitty soap, even though 100% of the proceeds go to a worthwhile charity. Then the atheists are across the street protesting because the mayor is there sanctioning the event.

Here is a paper bag.

Breathe into it if you feel like this is too much to handle.

This seems more like a small church surprising and confusing many of its members by defying its years-old policy against raffles when it starts selling raffle tickets for breast cancer awareness when the prizes are pew seats that normally are reserved for long-time dedicated members of the congregation, a trip to a high-profile plastic surgeon, and a motherfucking Ferrari.

After all:

1. people aren't reaming the staff, they are just baffled by

2. the staff doing this after they've always had a policy against mingling real money with ingame benefits, regardless of whether platlord or rogean or whatever restaurant that sells bloomin onions is involved, and

3. guises and fungus staves are not the p99 equivalent of pink t-shirts and soap-laden goodie baskets.

Go on all you want though. I'm not mad. Surprised, confused, disappointed, yes. Mad? No. I even logged in this morning and made 15k in 10 minutes in HS south! So pretty much business as usual.

You're right, maybe i didn't think my post through. Perhaps I undervalued the rewards. I was thinking more about people complaining about xp pots = pay 2 win.

I can understand why you feel the way you do. What they are doing is unprecedented after all, but I think is still pretty far from donation benefits on THF (http://www.thehiddenforest.org/viewt...hp?f=14&t=1993). There should absolutely be 0 ways to turn any rewards into platinum, and I think that has been addressed by making all rewards no drop.

I can't say I agree with offering early access to the expansion. I really would hate to see velious items auctioned 6 days before release.

I don't understand how the staff can be against RMT by the players but then engage in it themselves.
i dont understand how you can say the p99 staff is engaging in RMT when exactly 0% of the money donated to the Pantheon kickstarter goes to the p99 staff.

as a staff, we very strongly support what the guys on the Pantheon team are doing, and we want to help them. not help us, not help p99, but help the guys at Pantheon get that game made so we can all play it.

anyone thats playing p99 clearly misses the old school style of MMOs, and we strongly believe that a large enough community exists out there, that if a Pantheon MMO targeted at players like yourself (and like myself) was made, it would be successful for its targeted audience.

if you dont think Pantheon is for you, then do not donate to it. but if you don't donate to Pantheon, you forfeit all future rights to complain about current games being crap, or the current state of MMOs

Wonder what kickbacks the staff is getting from this.
0 kickbacks for staff. we are doing this because we support it and want it to succeed. i'm sorry if you've never done something for someone without asking for something in return. we have the utmost respect for these guys. that being said, if they want to send me breakfast burritos i won't stop them.

Also, Brad McQuaid is now a GM? Aradune seen in game with a GM tag? I love McQuaid for what he did to everquest as much as the next guy, but err seriously?
we wanted to recreate his character from live for him because we wanted to do something we thought he would legitimately be excited about. Obviously Brad is a very busy man, but we thought it would be fun for him to just pop around EQ on his old toon, and of course fun for players to have a chance to bump into the legendary Aradune Mithara and maybe have him seduce them with tales of Pantheon.

The staff isn't engaging in RMT themselves, they just gave the players a venue to do it. I've got no problem rallying people to support this game, I'm just worried what it could mean for this server that people are given the option to buy their pixels.

A 90 minute 50% exp pot might not seem all that gamebreaking, except for the fact that a real world value of $12.50 has been placed on a tradable item.

Realistically what value do you place on them in terms of platinum? I can't see them being work more than a few k, and even that's a ridiculous price to pay for a measly 50% exp boost for 90 minutes.

Especially considering everyone will get a FREE exp boost server wide as a result of these donations should they hit the milestones.

I can see them going for 5k, maybe more. 90 minutes +50% exp in a Chardok AE group? Absolutely.

Also, I have no problem if the way to rally folks to donate was a serverwide exp boost for milestones hit in terms of donations.
