An increase in average salary of some significance, or even lower the bar, go for average household salary which is even easier to increase. 15 years later, we got Trump. Generation X was willing to let everything go. Evidence for mass media mind control, epidemic of depression/nihilist ideology (seems that this played a role in Gen X apathy) control which no longer exists as much in the present day. I think without the internet that Gen Y and Z would politically not be any different than those who voted for limousine liberalism. Its definitely an extremely interesting time to be alive, politically speaking. You're about as fascinated as I am. The "what next" has never been greater. And the stakes have never been higher. The political embarrassment evermore. I'd still prefer to be born 30 years later, past Gen Z, so I could see more of the outcome.

You're right, "slowing the decline" is an actually terrible message. And it would have been awesome if people were less political about social issue, and more political about real issues.
Like pollution, climate change, supply and demand in the economy(ies) of the world. Sustainability, long term population growth and management. Etc. Have to admit the GOP / Brietbart / Evangelical "Right" is the most annoyingly political and fundamentally ignorant about the social issues tho. They QQ the hardest of them all about what goes on in other peoples lives and heads. All the while burying their heads in the sand about encouraging walmart people to make more babies. I think people are just really really ((maybe a third really)) unintelligent and addicted to stuff. And afraid, in shock, overwhelmed by what has been created out of the Utopia that pushed out AI and automation. Can't really say I blame them or bear that much actual ill will towards them beyond my fantasies of a global monarchy that creates a space age to build: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LMbI6sk-62E [You must be logged in to view images.
