That talking point was debunked like 8 years ago. That data was cherry picked from a minor recession 1937 and 1938.

Historians overwhelmingly support the view that some programs weren't helpful, but overall the new deal helped the macro economy.

Keep in mind, macro economies can decline in growth and workers lives can get substantially better at the same time.
