I'd say having to rely on root spam and zerging is being bad.

But that's just my (and apparently the original EQ developers') opinion.

In the meantime Samwise, stop being bad at EQ and learn to adapt to mage pets that 100% root you at 200MR.

I agree with you on Velious/YT on the top of the list.

But unfortunately resist fixes for the longest time were prioritzed under smelling your fingers.

i dont play, so maybe i'm completely off base in my assumptions here. but why cant you just pumice mage pet root off?

manage your buffs so root lands at the top, and pumice it.

I think we can skip the basics here talking to Dr. Nirgon but I'll bite.

Pure melees have no chanelling skill for one. Further, even if you do, a Kunark assist train will lay you out in 3 seconds (cast time of pumice).

Not to mention, that fucker spams root while mages spam bolts that travel thru walls here. Now consider more than 1 mage.. and more obvious problems I can point out with this.

Bolts need to just be made into nukes until that through walls stuff is fixed too.

I'm not sure if you're just curious or actually defending a pet that spams unresistable root =).

was honestly asking/curious. contrary to what some dumb kids post on the forums, i truly have not played on red.

but it sounds like the bigger problem are Mage bolts not working correctly, along with maybe mage pets proc'ing their spell to often.

you also have to remember mages are a 100% offense class. they have 0 defense spells besides gate. they have to get in, kill you, and get out fast. Root/fear mage pet, and then go beat the mage to death with your bare hands. he wont be able to stop you.

Mage pet prices have been nuts since beta. Had many a pk in lower level zones with earth pet on beta.

Fair enough, I do take you serious.

You have to think more about the group dynamic issue of this or a mage in the hands of a skilled player and not a scrub.

If I'm a mage and send my pet, person is immediately rooted. They start a root, I start a cancel magic. Root lands on pet, shortly after dispel lands on it and resumes.

Or, even in less skilled hands, you're trading dispel casts on you for nukes. The mage can easily OOR you with bolts while you're rooted too.

It's pretty bad dawg. On live that spell was insanely resisted.

I PM'd you the live resist calc logic using those variables (pvp resist calc, pvp resist base, pvp resist cap)

If for no other reason than its just cool to know how resists in EQ PvP actually worked.

in early levels in classic, mages are op as fawk. my main on live was a mage from 99-04.

in kunark on live my mage pet was able to solo a 54 warrior in decent gear in Seb at the entrance.

root/fear the pet and mage = dead.

as far as the procs and bolts, ill look at some stuff and then ill talk to Nilbog if it is indeed screwed up
