Sometimes I feel the same way, and worry the same thing.

I don't think its the case though (growing up). Games just aren't what they used to be, and theres just not much demand for games like EQ, even when they are available.

In a perfect world, we'd have a perfect reproduction of EQ classic, with an enthusiastic staff that communicated with us, and thus, a significantly higher playerbase. We'd have more frequent updates, events and bonuses, and players to group/pvp/exp and raid with, and the "grind" would be more enjoyable like it once was. It aint meant to be done alone...

Now people think the game thats always had a slower progression, should be grindless. People say they don't want it, but when its not there, the game is not meaningful and your time investment doesn't feel worthwhile. The same way winning at tic tac toe is less meaningful than winning a game of chess or Risk.

Even with a server thats stable and as close to classic as project99 is, a portion of the playerbase doesn't want classic (while many say they do), another portion doesn't know what they want (while they think they do), and yet another part still won't be happy no matter what happens. All the meanwhile they actively engage in tearing down what we do have in favor of what they want even when its statedly not what is being offered.

I know what I want - to log in, be able to find some dudes to progress my toon with (exp/items/dungeons/raids) and have fun fighting both the environment (pve) and players (pvp) to accomplish it. Thats classic EQ. I know because I spent thousands of hours playing it (Rallos Zek 99-01).

People need to figure out what they really want. If its classic EQ, they should play and enjoy it for what its worth (imperfect classic EQ - with a very part time staff). If not, people should find a better classic EQ server (there are none), another game or a modded server that removes the grind and gives them the more instant, but less enduring enjoyment (tic tac toe).

Color it however you want but P99 is what it's supposed to be. Be adult enough to admit it is not what you want and leave the devs out of it.

Getting banned is your own fault Sam and others. If you "tote the line" you might get banned and many of you are bitching when you were WAY across that line. I know children better behaved than you people. What you all are upset about is that the servers exist WITHOUT you. Your ego will not allow you a clean break. You must come back and haunt these forums. You simply do not have the mental capacity and maturity to admit you broke the rules and can not play here. "If I can't play, no one will!" That goes for you Harrison. Clearly your intelligent but a 3 year old can be intelligent, they just hate it when they are denied a cookie. Someone else gets away with what you did not and you can't stand it. Well I got news for ya bub, that's life. Have a coke and a smile and stfu! I could careless if TMO plays 24/7or was allowed to get away with this or that. I've dealt with them before and yes many of their members are indeed arrogant and annoying but I also know that if you keep your cool and communicate with most of them they are reasonable.

Oh and here is a little gem that few people really understand:

This is NOT your server, it has an owner and operator. If they want to let some people get off easy and slam others, guess what, they can and maybe on occaision they have. If they make mistakes they make mistakes. This does not stop me from playing EQ classic here. I work hard M-F. Some evenings I want to login and enjoy EQ and I do. What else matters? I get to relax for a few hours go to bed and get up to work the next day. All of this, THIS hate mongering is wasted energy, words needlessly spent in egotistical banter in an attempt to prove that they were wrong and you were right. Well you know what? I don't give a flying flip if you are right, I just want to play EQ and I do.
