I find this so hard to understand; I thought the whole point of and one of the greatest sources of pride for America was that it is an immigration nation? As a bloody foreigner this is how the U.S. has traditionally self sold to me.

Like everything else in the U.S., it depends on which side you're on. "Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses yearning to breathe free.” That statement only resonates with this country's left anymore. Our President got elected on a campaign on blatant xenophobia and a bit under half of the U.S. agreed with him. It's unfortunate. The promise (lie) of a better life here is what we were founded on.
