By this point the pattern is obvious to me. I encourage people to repost this but please don't attribute it to me. If people can start seeing their existence in these terms it'll help a lot.

The Cycle:

* You have a lot of free time and a lot of problems in your life
* You fill your time by hate-fantasizing about other people. Maybe you connect to an echo chamber or propaganda chamber
* Your time-wasting didn't actually change things so now you're even worse off. Now you're in a bad mood so you lash out at the people around you
* People stop interacting with you because you're toxic, which means you have more free time and more problems... return to step 1

Things that push you into The Cycle:

* Social isolation
* Feelings of guilt from being unproductive
* You know your life is awful but you lack awareness that it has to be you who seeks to improve your life
* You know your life is awful but you lack opportunities or you lack the ability to change anything

I hate to do this smug cold reading but I think large sections of the of American society's problems are due to people being caught in The Cycle.

* Random mass violence; someone online in your echo chamber figured how to weaponize your pain and point it at someone else
* School/workplace violence due to being socially isolated; you can't release your emotions through normal social interactions and you lash out at others to release them
* Continually seeking things on social media to stoke your anger; being angry all the time only makes you less productive
* Hate-fantasizing about the political party that opposes your views; blaming other people for everything is just an attempt to quiet those guilty feelings you haven't ever released because you're super unproductive
* Taking opiates to try to silence that voice that whispers that your life is awful and there's nothing you can do to change things; I know it's a short-term escape but it's obviously destructive in the long-term

If you're in The Cycle, I can't promise that things will get better but I do promise to you that things won't improve themselves; you have to keep trying to change things until something works.
