For leaderboard purposes: How should kills be tracked? Anyone involved/assists gets kills+1? Deathblows would leave tanks and healers at a disadvantage I'd think.
Well, thats assumed by the player of that class, that hes not going to get 100 killshots in a month. Dont spoil it for the rest of the classes. Add killshots to the leaderboard. Theres alot of stuff from LoZ thats actually not classic at all but very cool. Like after you get 5 kills it shouts that as well, and a different shout for 5 kills in a row, and it goes up to like 100. So you can see how many times people have died without even having to look on the boards. And you can see whos good and who isnt, by just looking at thier kill to death ratio. Nobody is going to laugh at a cleric w 5 kills and 20 deaths. But, someone will awe at a cleric who has 2 deaths and 20 pvp kills.

Theres ways to manipulate kill shots, like gank groups that just hunt lower chars in range and have the cleric take the killshot to look like a pimp. But those players will get recognized and laughed at themselves. So it really doesnt matter.

Sounds like you figured out what they really want, lol.

EQ/Unreal tournament/DoTA = Red99??? I don't think that is what the majority of players want. I for one don't.

I still think it would be hilarious.. and oddly enough, do-able with our DLL.

also: teams

TEAMS

Light/dark, 4 races, SZ style - whatever. Those servers were more popular than RZ.

Casual players have a better time. People know where to go (Karnors = lightie dungeon, Guk = dark, etc). Zone control is meaningful. Guilds reaching critical mass is less impactful because allying smaller guilds on the same team is more viable.

It won't happen but I would never leave this box if it became the striking image of 2000-era Tallon Zek (or VZ/SZ).

+1 for teams. Would love to see that happen. What are the obstacles for doing teams mid-play? Is my previous comment a possibility or not able to do with current code?

Give players a one time option to change races, all faction work is zero'd out and reset to base race faction.

Probably would have to do a search of items that were race-linked quests as well, like the human cleric thing that gives them lich.

Those servers also didn't have item loot, which was a bigger deterrent than race wars was a feature, imo. Not really against race wars servers, they always sounded great to me, but I was already fully invested/immersed in RZ. R99 doesn't have item loot, so I feel like this arguement is mostly moot, aside from the fact that it would be almost impossible to implement at this point.

Reasons I Want YT

1) Makes the server feel more alive. Seeing YT shows you that hey, things are actually going on, the server isn't some boring grind fest of a graveyard.

2) bragging rights

3) cuts down on forum spam and the whole "i keeled u 10x" "no u didnt lier lulz" bs cuz YT is pretty indisputable

4) talking points in OOC that again give you something to do and read and laugh about when you're killing a_froglok_10000000000

5) helps prevent repetitive bind-camping

6) brings others to the scene of the YT increasing PVP
