I'd say ~300 is a far more accurate estimate
It had around 100 for a little bit but most of them quit because the exp was "too slow" and they couldn't box. Well just wait until it's drastically slower and they still can't box their way up.

edit: let's not forget exp penalties. Troll SK? lol

people will play if its a solid server with most of the mechanics working if they can find a group to lvl with. So lets just hope the population is high enough and stays high enough that it does

yeah but your server was shit compared to the 1999 experience and promise of no hacking ("PROMISE"). If I can play a legit 1999 experience where no one can hack I don't care how much the XP sucks.

What would I prefer? Perhaps bump it up a bit but I want people to earn those levels and I want to replay PvP in the mis levels as well as 50 PvP.

If the server had 100 people, single boxed, that would still be HUGE compared to what we're used to from past boxes. I'm more concerned with GM's getting burnt out due to excessive QQ, which will happen on a pvp server. People will have to put their big boy pants on and learn to let some shit go, simply to aid in the longevity of the server.

I'm not suggesting put live like exp rates on these temporary boxes.

But R99, provided it ever fucking launches, should be live like exp and almost certainly will be. And it will pay off. We might end up lacking some fags that will rage quit not being able to ding 50 the first day and box their buff class. But oh well. People like Salty will not play on R99 cause they will either MQ and get kicked and not want to level again, or not use MQ and realize they suck shit.

I honestly think 250 is not unreasonable for the average night on R99. I could see it going up to 400. I dont think you guys realize how many ppl from P99 are from PvP servers and are tired of fucking poopsock and would rather just fight it out.

We're already seeing how bad 1 boxing cripples PvP on Red69.. I can only try to kill shit solo on my cleric for so long before I wan't to kill myself.

Maybe Red99 would pull the population needed.. but I highly doubt it would be easy for a complete newb to start up a few months (even a few weeks) down the road and find a group of people to level up with.

Unfortunately I believe boxing is 100% needed for a classic PvP server on the emu.

I find your lack of faith disturbing.

Seriously though. Not only will this server have the strongest PVP population because of server stability and the reputation of those running it alone, but I believe it will also have a calling for blue server players as well.

I know a lot of people jump at the chance to start on a brand new server where everyone starts on the same page. Being able to camp things like jboots, manastones and rubicite again. Again, I touched on this in previous posts. This is where I believe the counter balance of having anti-pk guilds will come in, and those anti-pk guilds will likely be formed by the bluebies that migrate over when the server opens.

PvE forces you to group.. XP is XP..

PVP doesn't work that way. When people fuck in a PUG or are known tards, they will be PK'd.

There will be griefers that don't give a fuck... it doesn't work the way it does on blue. I can't imagine a random group of people forming together to XP, especially with the type of people we deal with.

An anti PK guild on P99 will be destroyed very quickly, mark my words. If there is one, I'll play just to grief them. I can think of a handful of others that would do that same. The true bluebies won't last.

You also haven't come up with a solution to my question.... if the server has been out for a weeks or even a few months, what does a total newbie do with no gear that doesn't play a solo class. The population would have to be 200+ minimum for this to work and I still don't see that new person with no groups to level with lasting long with horrible XP and immediate grief upon the appropriate level.

I don't see the issue with 2 boxing, anyone can level this way and it it puts them at a disadvantage in PvP. The best PvPer is going to run around with full buffs anyway...
