the expression is actually "those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it."

Wow. Glad I been missing all this, lol.

Hasbin...you left out SO much! Great read tho, bro.

As much as you guys are gonna hate to hear this, and as much as I once argued so passionately against it...the only thing that's gonna work is

:drum roll

rotation.

The argument is gonna be "there's no competition". Sure. You bet.

Poopsocking will always be the answer because there is NO guild - not one - that can effectively and consistently beat IB/TR on an even playing field, and there has never been a guild that could.

There were a couple in the early days that gave them an honest run for their money, and that was probably the best fun I ever had here. The only problem is that TR would have to give a bit to placate the server. There's a price to pay for being TOO good, fellas.

I hope someday the raiding scene on P99 will become more like it was on live where there was no spawn variables, no poopsocking or pre-camping, not so many rules, and nearly no GM intervention. As a matter of fact there shouldn't be any rules in regards to raiding. Lost a race? tough deal. Got steamrolled? /deletepetition. Got trained by the competing guild? Sorry I won't accept your video evidence, fraps isn't classic. That would encourage some healthy competition between skillful players and would benefit the growth of the server as not so many people would get burned out by this bullshit. It would also be alot more fun! Until then I think I will just remain guildless and go make a million plat in EC.

Webwolf, President, G13 this thread has brought out all the old crew.

Rotation will never work solely as a function of population. It may have worked with 2 guilds, but 2 guilds quickly become 4 and so on and so forth until you get one dragon every 2 months and you may as well /random 100 with every character over level 46 on the server.

Prolly would never work but not because of population, imo. Back in the "guild summit" days there was a pretty interesting idea or two about the requirements for a guild to allowed into rotation. For example...a guild would have to be like...ABLE to kill Trakanon (for example) before being allowed in. Am I wrong in remembering that the GM's- at the time - said they would spawn tests if guilds could hammer it out? There's a lot that could be done if people would quit letting the trees get in the way.

The reason rotation would prolly not work...is more that there's too many asses that would choose sitting on a spawn point, causing an endless circle of drama, over either competing OR sitting down and tabling it out.

The only other viable option is what Webwolf said...and there was always a large percentage of pop that favored FFA with no GM intervention. Sure, that might be a cluster****...but it might be a helluva fun one. Heck...I might even find time to log in from my 14-hour workdays to join in on that one, lol.

And this is just from the last page of the 9 pages that came up on the search.
Search: Raid rules

not to say this has been done before, but it's been done before. let's get back to talking about my place in p99 history.
Omg Ektar. I can't believe you compiled a list of raid rule discussion threads, and omitted the most important one, namely "Glitch's Brand New Raid Rules"

And I quote (me) (http://www.project1999.org/forums/sh...ad.php?t=13122)

For the purpose of this ruleset, Maestro of Rancor isn't considered a real boss.

Any comments or suggestions are welcome

That being said, I saw this thread earlier today, and waited all day to find a time to read it, and finally at 3:36AM managed to read through all 16 pages. I've gotta tell you, I'm kinda disappointed.
