Not everyone requires an education after high school. Being forced to bet on yourself to get one is a decent system working as intended, and actually quite manageable even as bad as things are now.
Just on this point, anyone coming out of the public school system today ...SHOuld get at least some education hehe you just cant remain a vegetable all your life as modern public school has left you [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

Accredited or not. Even a trade school, whatever. Pick up a cert or something. Do the online crap, stuff that interests you. Community colleges have all sorts of programs, do in your part time while you hold a real full-time job. There are industry schools too, though... less industry these days [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

In some cases, you can even pick up a stupid exam text book and study on your own time, then go take the exam for a recognized cert (very common with technical training).

But point is there are all types of educational programs, and you won't be paying student loans on for the next 20yrs... if you even find a job after getting that debt piled up.

Schools are so messed up now, we're going to run out of doctors. Aint hardly worth it any longer. With all the debt and insurance and malpractice lawsuits under every robe, as a plumber you may wind up with a better retirement stash [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

I do laugh when I see these top 300 schools with endowments of 150 million (pretty respectable for your average heap of shit "Good" private university) with an average undergrad GPA of 4.0.

I consider myself a smart guy. I suffer from a neurodevelopmental disorder-- ADD. It took me awhile to handle a full course load. Some semesters no problem, others were complete wastes of my life and money due to the disorder.

Since I have existed at both ends of the spectrum, depending on my mood and dopamine transport saturation, as both a really bad student and a REALLY good straight A student. I can say with confidence that any school outside of the top 200 claiming to maintain a 4.0 average GPA is a farce and is either A) a fraud handing grades out to business school kids B) not worth the tuition.

Can anyone tell me why schools outside of the top 40 advertise their Average GPA's of 4.0 when all it does is cheapen their image? Do they think the average sucker isn't smart enough to know that its NOT POSSIBLE, NOT FEASIBLE to have a school full of 3,000 undergraduates and maintain a 4.0 GPA average without fraud, or a serious staffing issue.

Fuck free college I only see it making the above scenario's listed by George and others even worse.

Well I did all that shit I mentioned. College (computer science), trade school (carpenter), industry school (CNC machinist/technician). Various technical certs in computers. Some other classes/schools too. Damn straight. I even read ...books! [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.] like non-fiction stuff by golly [You must be logged in to view images. Looking at enrolling in IT education soon myself and learning a programming language unless I want to transition into sales. I think there is a reason a lot of people avoid working in sales. Just seems very stressful if you aren't a pathological machine about it. Seems you are either a good salesperson or you are really bad. Risky allocation of time and who aspires to get a career in sales anyway?

Worst case I guess there is always the tar sands. I haven't looked into the safety risks yet and what a new guy arriving at the Sands can expect...I am guessing there is a reason the pay starts at six figures, and probably not entirely due to having to relocate to a shithole and ditch your family and friends.

I think I'm getting too old for the Sands though.

I could go back to school, but IDK how that works with my employment. First world problems of making your own way in the world I guess. Would have been nice to grow up in the 16th Century in a family of master blacksmiths and have it automatically decided for you.

Several years to go before I'm caught up to you though Daywolf as far as # of career changes go. You are a fair bit older than me.
