A simple google search could tell you that. The goal is to reduce the chances to becoming infected as much as possible. PS: Andrew Wakefield lost his license to practice medicine for publishing fraudulent material and failing to disclose his financial interests in the topic (he was poised to makes millions illicitly). He is no longer a doctor. Furthermore, while he was practicing medicine, he did not earn any aspect of his title through research or hard work in the field of immunology. He was a Gastroenterologist who had a theory which turned out to be wrong (that's ok), had a pending patent (conflict of interest he failed to disclose (not ok), and published a study that was frankly fraudulent (for which he ultimately lost his license to practice medicine).

(Former Dr) Andrew Wakefield doesn't make a very good poster boy.
