Playing on more than 56k modems, not classic.
Playing on slimline laptop/flat screen monitors, not classic.
EC trading forum, not classic.

Not a "classic" server, and I'm okay with that.

The point of the thread is the speed of the EC spam at times, it gets so quick because everyone is jumping over each other to be at the fresh end that it's very difficult to accurately click the items you want to look at (even with just auctions in its own window).

We discussed the idea of putting a limit on how often people can talk in public channels in EC, whether it should just be in /say, whether a second trading zone should be used to split it up etc.

It was pure spam the other night fishing, like you get in a popular Twitch.tv chatroom.

People being lazy and pressing their auction macros with 1-2 items per line:-

WTS: crushbone belts, deathfist belts
WTS: minotaur axes, bone chips
WTS:
WTS:
WTS:

...5 lines of spam.

People maxing the item links they can put in on one auction, then shift+up key and re-doing 3-4 more auctions like that together.

...and the more that happened, the more people reposted, and yeah, shitty times for buyers. This was all in the auction channel.

Put a limit on how soon someone can repost their auctions during busy times (when EC goes over 120-150 or something). I still like the bazaar, y'all hating [You must be logged in to view images. Log in or Register.]

got ya, id probably just put the people on ignore that are spamming/spamming the stuff im not trying to buy and then i'd wipe the list. But I can definitely see why the spam is a pain, didn't personally see it so all i can offer is a little adivce

I'd question the reasoning of people sitting in EC reading every single auction. If I am selling items, I auction them a few times and then go do something, or auction them while I do housework or studying or something.

Same thing when I'm buying; just skim the auctions for what you want or play normally and just keep a browser window open with ahungry.

What the hell do you people do, window shop? Hang around EC to see what strikes your fancy?

I'd love a Bazaar-like element to EC, but it's not happening.

To the people who say this is not 100% classic and never will be: you are 100% correct. However, this project is about making the server as classic as possible. So, a bazaar will never happen (phew!)

Somewhat miss the listing out all their stats or selling bags o' stuff at T1/T2. But item links sure were nice.

However, I have not been in EC for more than a few minutes in months. Maybe people with items 5kpp and below move to Nro. 5k+ stay in EC. Splits the spam in half and people can target their price ranges by simple stepping 2 feet to the left or right.

There is a second reason for spamming WTB/WTS so often. People are entering EC all the time. If you only do your message once every 5 minutes, people can enter, run towards the next zone, and exit before they get a chance to see your auction. This becomes less of an issue if you use ahungry auction tracker but it still stands. Tbh this is the only reason I ever thought people spammed so much. As a wizard I can enter from the nro side, run straight to someone in EC and port out before 3 minutes have gone by. Give the delays a wide enough spacing and I won't ever see those *surprise* WTS that I am really looking for.

Seems like mostly an issue for people who spend hours in EC.


*Edited for clarity. I meant those auctions you don't expect to see, and you aren't even in EC for buying, but then you see the auction while passing through.
