Not to rain on your parade, but ignorance of the rules or even the existence of the P99 forums is hardly any excuse - When you read about it daily and time and time again, when you log into the game. It's in the [Message of the Day] with those annoying yellow letters...

Players get banned but platlord is still unbanned? Something needs to change here. How hard could it be to banned the distributors when only 1000 people play on the server? In the op's case, I vote gear strip. Eff starting all over. Maybe do a perma ban on the second offense.

Besides, loosing RL money invested in gear should be punishment enough. Player punishment and distributor punishment should not be equal. If i go buy 20 bucks worth of weed and get caught, the punishment a lot less severe than if the supplier got caught.

pretty sure the suppliers, including platlord, have lost thousands of dollars of virtual stock...not to mention that with every round of bann hammers it is harder for them to convince players to trust their service. i'm certain that platlord is hurting from Ephi's efforts...other RMTers might have a temporary gain of the market with his loss, but even they hurt when Ephi drops banns.

at server launch i think i recall RMTers getting a suspension before bann, but too many of them would just go right back to RMTing that it was just changed to an outright perma bann (which has been the published rule for a long time now). i don't see how you can give some folks a break and then bann others just because you have sympathy for them. if the rule is perma ban for the RMTing account then thats what they should enforce imo.

if they bend the rules for one person they need to do it for everyone in the same situation or it would be even worse.

I am glad these bans are happening...As a new player I have never been turned down for a group for not being geared or ever heard anyone talking about RMT not negatively.

Wait. Buying drugs from guys on the street is illegal?

The next thing you're going to say is paying a chick to sleep with you could put you in jail.

Think you missed the point here. Read harder next time.

What I don't understand from anyone who does RMT is; why? Do you really want a game to be that easy? If you do, what the hell is the point of playing it in the first place?

Like seriously.

Mixed feelings about the OP's post. Aside from even my personal thoughts that RMT inherently defeats the purpose of the game, I really find it hard to believe that someone played that long and didn't know it was a perma ban offense. I feel like even if you had your head in the sand you would ask people about buying from some official source before you turned to some shady guy like platlord and learn it was illegal along the way.

On a side note I think it may be possible for someone who wasn't trying to do RMT and played casually, and didn't read the forums to not know. I think last night I actually went to check if it was in the getting started rules and didn't see it but it appears to be there this morning, and the last edited timestamp is today. So its conceivable if a friend helped you get setup or you just read the instructions real quick you might not know. But still, by the time you go investigating to buy plat you would definitely be aware.
