Not the original, and not necessarily Omicron. Original and Delta were destroying lung tissue and they and Omicron had an effect on brain function (that covid "brain fog"). I still have lingering brain fog but it's not as severe as it was early in the year. My sense of taste is still slightly altered as well. It caused damage and we aren't sure how permanent it is or even exactly what it did.

Ventilators destroyed the lung tissue. Covid had nothing to do with it.
